In the modern household, connectivity is important and our house is no exception. My oldest son is often online playing video games on the main desktop computer, my youngest son loves watching his favourite Netflix shows on the XBox 360, and I’m usually on my laptop working on my website from nine to five and sometimes longer. On top of that, my phone, the family tablet and Zackary’s Nintendo 3DS are connected to the WiFi network too. Needless to say, we want our router to provide a connection that’s strong and fast.
In my small town, the high-speed Internet options are not ideal. Because of that, I’m all the more passionate about ensuring that I’m using the best possible equipment so that I know I’m making the most of the speed I do have. I recently got the chance to review the new NETGEAR Nighthawk AC1900 Smart WiFi Router to see for myself how the company’s products could help keep my family connected, and I couldn’t wait.
Now while I’m fairly proficient at working online, I’ve never had a whole lot of experience installing hardware, so I was a little nervous about installing the router. At first glance, the process seemed fairly straightforward; I just needed to unplug the cables from the current router, plug them into my new NETGEAR Nighthawk and power everything up. I soon learned that wasn’t quite the way the process went. Plugging everything into the router right away before it had been set up caused the router to fail to connect to the Internet, so I had to start by simply turning on the router’s power and then connecting it to the modem with the included Ethernet cable.
