I’ve always been a little bit nuts for nuts. Cracking whole assorted nuts and eating them right out the shell has been a Christmas tradition in our house since I was a child. And whether I’m making a flavourful vegetarian curry or a batch of tasty homemade chocolates, adding nuts just makes food better. But the best part is that nuts are a great source of so many essential nutrients too!

Now Happy Planet, a proudly Canadian company that makes some of my very favourite fresh soups, is bringing the goodness of nuts to its new line of smoothies! Just in time to help you stick to your newly formed healthy eating and exercise habits, these smoothies comes in four delicious flavours and are packed with all the goodness of almonds and cashews! I recently received the new smoothies to test out for myself and I couldn’t wait to try them all.

The smoothies are available in Coffee, Vanilla Chai, Salted Caramel and Chocolate flavours and can be purchased in both large 900ml bottles and individual-sized 325ml bottles. I opened a single-serve Salted Caramel and took a sip. Immediately, I knew I’d found my new favourite snack for those mid-afternoon slumps! Dairy-Free Mushroom and Red Pepper Frittata with Almond Breeze Makes a Better Breakfast

Just over one month ago I received a fabulous Almond Breeze package to help me embrace better health in 2015. One of my top health challenges has been eating breakfast each morning and I was sure that Almond Breeze would help me conquer that goal. It made such delicious morning smoothies that eating breakfast was suddenly no longer a chore!

But after awhile I realized that I did start to tire of eating the same breakfast each and every day. So I decided to put my creativity to work and see if I could create a savoury Almond Breeze breakfast alternative. Getting Healthy and Fit in the New Year

Even though I’m at a fairly good weight for my size, I’ve known for some time that I really need to implement a proper fitness routine. In the past, when my weight started to creep up or I started to feel heavy and low on energy, I’ve invariably turned to diet changes to correct the problem. And while it does work well, I know that my body needs more. Now that I’m in my mid-thirties, building up my strength and endurance is just as important as eating well and I’ve decided 2015 is the year that I’ll be embracing good health and exercise.

Dairy-Free Cream of Broccoli Soup Recipe with Silk Almond Original

Before I had kids, I loved using Silk Original Vanilla soy beverage in my coffee and cereal instead of milk. But since it was slightly sweetened, it wasn’t the best choice for cooking savoury dishes and keeping two different products in the refrigerator just didn’t make sense to me. Silk beverages have expanded their line a lot since then and so when I was given the opportunity to create some tasty recipes using Silk products and vegetables that flower, I couldn’t wait to see what I could whip up. The low calories, calcium and essential vitamins in Silk products are such a great addition to a healthy lifestyle and I was already beaming at the prospect of adding them to my diet again.

As a huge fan of the cruciferous vegetables, I decided that I wanted to create a recipe featuring broccoli. There’s nothing I love more than a delicious bowl of soup and cream soups are my absolute favourite. But they do tend to be heavy on fat and calories, and what if you’re vegan, lactose intolerant or allergic to dairy? This delicious Cream of Broccoli soup is the perfect solution! Using Silk Original Almond beverage and fresh vegetables, it has a rich, creamy flavour as well as calcium and Vitamin D for extra nutrition.
