Give Back in April with the P&G #CleanWater Challenge-Giveaway #PGMom

April 15, 2014 by Kathryn 134 Comments

It’s amazing how easy it is to take clean water for granted when it’s something that has always been a part of our lives. Growing up in North America has given me the understanding that when I turn on a tap, I can drink the water that comes out without any concern. But I did a lot of travelling in my youth and I know from exploring places like Cuba and South Africa that clean water is a luxury in many parts of the world, not a right.

In fact, approximately one billion people do not have clean drinking water, many of whom are children in the developing world. As a result, thousands of children die every day. The P&G Children’s Safe Drinking Water (CSDW) Program helps provide clean drinking water to these people through a water purifying technology developed by P&G. One small P&G purification packet quickly turns 10 litres of dirty, potentially deadly water into clean, drinkable water. Nearly 7 billion litres of clean drinking water have been provided by humanitarian organizations across the globe using P&G packets, helping to save an estimated 39,000 lives in more than 75 countries.

This month, P&G is doing even more to ensure that clean water is available to those that need it by teaming up with Walmart Canada! Until April 30, P&G will donate one day of clean water through the Children’s Safe Drinking Water program for every P&G product sold in Walmart Canada stores or online at Walmart.ca! Just by shopping for the products you love and use anyways, you can help ensure that children in developing countries have fresh, clean drinking water. [Read more…]

The first day of school is quickly approaching and whether your child has a few butterflies about heading back or you just want to commemorate the special day, Hallmark has a fabulous range of products that are sure to make the first day of school a memorable one! Recently Hallmark sent me a few of its “Making Memories” and “Encouraging Kids” products perfect for back-to-school to review and I fell in love almost at once. From photo props to special cards, they’re sure to put a smile on your little one’s face on that big first day!

I received a Hallmark Pics ‘N’ Props My First Day of School Kit and a set of fun Kid Encouragement and Back-to-School greeting cards to review. I loved the concept of the handy photo kit. Every day from now until my boys graduate, I can insert the included printed cards featuring my boys’ current grade levels into the chalkboard and take a picture of them holding it up. It’s going to be such a fun way to see how much they grow each year. And the stylish photo album will help keep all the pictures from previous years together so that I can look back and relive the memories. Best of all, the set includes a note card for each year of school that I can fill out together with my boys for us to look back on one day. With a spot for the date, the year’s teacher and a list of friends, it will be a great memory for the future. [Read more…]

Three Easy Tips for Creating an Appealing Outdoor Space

July 24, 2013 by Kathryn 7 Comments

In my opinion, nothing makes a house more appealing than a great back yard. In warm summer weather, it really becomes an extra part of the house and our family considers it the absolute best place to be. So how do you turn your back yard into a haven the whole family will enjoy? These are my top three tips for creating an inviting back yard space.

1) Make a Place for the Kids

A yard isn’t any fun if the whole family can’t enjoy spending time there. If you want to make a long-term investment, consider a large play structure or swing set that will be used for years. If your budget is limited, smaller items like a plastic sandbox or an assortment of balls, Frisbees and other outdoor sports equipment can provide hours of fun for children. [Read more…]
