Create a New Best Friend with an Amazing Promotion from Build-a-Bear Workshop on National Teddy Bear Day-Giveaway

September 6, 2017 by Kathryn 112 Comments

My boys have always loved their special stuffed animal friends. From the giant duck my middle child found at a second-hand shop to the tiny husky puppy my oldest has had since he was a baby, their stuffies have been there through the years to cuddle them when they’re sad, talk to them when they’re angry and help them feel secure when they’re scared.

But there’s no stuffed animal friend quite as special as one that you make yourself. And that’s why Build-a-Bear Workshop has long been a favourite destination for children of all ages in search of an extra special new best friend.

Kids Will Love the Nutty Taste of #DarePeanutFree Bear Paws and Wagon Wheels with Wowbutter-Giveaway

September 17, 2014 by Kathryn 205 Comments

I’m very lucky to have two boys that so far don’t have any food allergies, but of course not everyone we know is so lucky. Our small-town school is very reasonable about peanut allergies and each year the teachers inventory the students and limit foods allowed in lunches on a class-by-class basis. The first few years, Zackary was still able to take peanut butter sandwiches and other nut-filled treats to school, as nobody in his class was allergic. But this year both of my boys have children with peanut allergies in their class.

That means I need to be careful when I’m packing snacks because, as the teachers say, if a snack isn’t labelled as being peanut-free, it’s not safe to send to school. So I was thrilled to learn about the new Dare Bear Paws and Wagon Wheels snacks made with Wowbutter! These treats use peanut-free Wowbutter, a spread that tastes just like peanut butter, to let kids enjoy a great nutty-tasting treat without actually eating nuts! [Read more…]

Rice Krispies #TreatsForToys Custom Creations to Support Kids in Need this Christmas

December 19, 2013 by Kathryn 103 Comments

Over the last month, I’ve been helping to spread the word about the Rice Krispies Treats for Toys program. Just create a Rice Krispies Treat toy, upload a picture of it to www.ricekrispies.ca and Kellogg’s Canada will donate $20 to the Salvation Army to help give a child in need a real toy this Christmas! My boys and I have already made some treats following the great instructions provided on the Rice Krispies website. But I couldn’t resist getting creative and whipping up some custom creations too!

I decided to create a treat to symbolize my boys’ favourite toys. Benjamin is a huge fan of stuffed animals and Zackary loves LEGO. So I put together two different recipes to create a Rice Krispies LEGO house and a Rice Krispies teddy bear!
