Summer Sports with the 2018 Ford Escape Titanium

June 27, 2018 by Kathryn Leave a Comment

Testing out a new Ford vehicle is always a treat, but it’s especially enjoyable in the spring! Finally getting out of the house after a long winter and cruising in a beautiful new car is the best way to say goodbye to cold weather for the next few months.

So, when Ford Canada offered me the chance to take the 2018 Ford Escape Titanium for a week-long test drive, I couldn’t have been happier. And as luck would have it, I ended up receiving the vehicle during the same week my boys had eight different sports games over a two-day period!

The new 2018 Ford Escape Titanium is packed with family-friendly features that make it the perfect vehicle for packed weekends, road trips and running errands. The blind-spot alert ensures that when a vehicle is in the car’s blind spot to help avoid accidents. Curve Control applies automatic brakes if a curve is taken too fast. And the rear view camera lets the vehicle get in and out of the tightest spots with ease. [Read more…]

The 2015 Ford Fiesta ST is a Dream Combination of Power and Style

August 12, 2014 by Kathryn 2 Comments

I have to admit that I have a love of speed when I drive and even though I control my urge to race down the road, I can’t help but fall in love with a vehicle that has a lot of zip. So when Ford Canada recently gave me the chance to test drive the 2015 Ford Fiesta ST, it was love at first sight. The ST model of this little hatchback comes in standard only and boasts 197 horsepower, aluminum interior detailing and an ST-unique suspension. It’s virtually impossible not to have fun behind the wheel of this vehicle.

It had been years since I’d last driven a standard vehicle and I have to admit that I’d forgotten how much fun it was, especially in a sporty little car like this one. The Fiesta is built very compact, which means that it’s great on gas and perfect as a commuter car. Even so, it had a surprisingly roomy back hatch that could easily have held all the groceries from one of our family’s monthly stocking-up grocery trips.

Head Out On a Summer Adventure with the 2014 Ford Escape

July 14, 2014 by Kathryn 56 Comments

Our summers are always full of travel and this year has been no exception. From a week-long trip to explore North Dakota to a weekend excursion in Edmonton to a few day trips around Saskatchewan, we’ve been having a blast enjoying the warm weather and indulging in some summer adventures. And to make those adventures even better, Ford Canada recently let me test-drive the new 2014 Ford Escape so that we could hit the road in style!

This car lives up to its name in every way; as soon as I was behind the wheel I wanted to head out on the highway and see something new. As a family vehicle, it combines fuel efficiency, power and roominess in the most ideal way. And with the option of adding a Class II Trailer Tow Package, it can even be used to hook up that camper or boat for some wilderness exploration.

Top Four Vehicle Picks for Canadians from the CIAS Canadian International Auto Show

March 23, 2014 by Paresh Pandya 49 Comments

I recently had the opportunity to visit the Canadian International Auto Show held at the Metro Toronto Convention Center. The Auto Show has been a tradition of mine for years as I never miss the chance to spend a day (or two!) eyeing all the hot new cars manufacturers have lined up for us to ogle. With nameplates like Ferrari, Maserati, McLaren, and Porsche all on display, it’s easy to start thinking about buying a few more lottery tickets or selling a body part to make a down payment.

But as much fun and excitement the exotics offer, a good portion of the show’s 600,000 square-foot floor is dedicated to everyday cars and trucks purchased by Canadians daily. With over 1,000 vehicles on display, it’s the best place for visitors to comparison shop without any pressure or hassles. Having checked out various makes and models, here are a few of my favourite picks for Canadians:

Mazda3

At the show Mazda won 2014 Canadian Car of the Year for their mid-sized Mazda6 sedan. While the floor was buzzing with excitement over the win, I found myself just as excited by its smaller brother the Mazda3. With gorgeous flowing lines, the bold grill and swept-back headlight assembly completes a package that says, “Hey! Let’s go someplace fun today!”

Inside I found controls to be within easy reach, while its BMW-esque dashboard (particularly the center display unit) gives a sense of premium styling and features. Fuel economy is also a key feature with Mazda’s Skyactiv suite of technologies delivering impressive results while maintaining Mazda’s peppy drive characteristic. With a choice of sedan or hatchback, there’s plenty of options and trim levels to appeal to a wide array of buyers (personally I love the GT hatchback with the larger 2.5L engine). I wasn’t too thrilled with the overly sized center tachometer, but that’s a minor detail I’m willing to overlook given how terrific the rest of the car is. [Read more…]

Take a Look at the Newly Redesigned 50th Anniversary Ford Mustang

January 14, 2014 by Kathryn 4 Comments

There aren’t many people that don’t love the fabulous Ford Mustang and this year the car is celebrating its 50th anniversary with a brand new redesigned look that will have Mustang fans clambering to take a look! I recently received some pictures and information about the new 2015 Ford Mustang and it is one gorgeous and powerful machine!

All-new shape, yet unmistakably Mustang

The clean-sheet design of both the Mustang fastback and convertible evokes the essential character of the brand, retaining key design elements including the long sculpted hood and short rear deck with a contemporary execution.

But key design features contribute to the Ford Mustang’s new look including the return of the Mustang fastback with a sleeker profile enabled by more steeply sloped windshield and rear glass, three-dimensional tri-bar taillamps with sequential turn signals and a lower, wider stance thanks to the reduction in roof height and wider rear fenders.
