Chocolate Covered Triscuit Crackers Make a Delicious Holiday Gift

December 12, 2017 by Kathryn 13 Comments

Ever since I was a child, Triscuit crackers have been my very favourite crackers. I love the crunch and texture of the whole wheat squares and I often have them with a few slices of cheese and some fresh veggies for a light lunch.

I’ll always have a special place in my heart for the original Triscuits, but I also adore the different flavoured crackers that are now available. The Roasted Garlic Triscuits are perfect for a charcuterie board. And the Balsamic & Basil crackers have the most addictive tangy-sweet flavour.

Barbara’s Snackimals Cereal is a Great Start to a Kid’s Day

April 14, 2015 by Kathryn 15 Comments

My boys are big fans of breakfast cereal and I’m always excited when I find a new variety that’s fun for them but still has ingredients I like. So I was pretty excited when I learned that Barbara’s, the maker of delicious organic crackers and cookies, had recently branched out and started offering two tasty varieties of children’s organic breakfast cereal!

We received a review package of the new Barbara’s Snackimals cereal to test out for ourselves along with two adorable plush toys for my boys. My animal-loving youngest son had a hard time deciding which one he wanted but eventually decided that the panda would be his new friend and that he would try the “panda cereal,” Snackimals Cinnamon Crunch, for breakfast the next day.

Encourage Your Kids to Support Those in Need with a Free the Children We Bake for Change Sale

February 13, 2015 by Kathryn 4 Comments

For the last three years, I’ve had the honour of attending We Day Saskatchewan and experiencing firsthand the many amazing initiatives that the youth of today are spearheading to make the world a better place. It all started with the formation of the charity Free the Children by We Day’s founder, Craig Kielburger. And Free the Children continues to be a powerful force for change in the world to this day, currently having provided 30,000 women with economic self-sufficiency, 1,000,000 people with clean water and 55,000 children with an education.

If your children are looking for ways to get involved and help others in need, one of the most popular choices is the We Bake for Change fundraiser. Simply gather a group of friends, plan a bake sale and donate the proceedings. It’s a fun and delicious way to support a great cause! Here are five steps to get your kids started: [Read more…]

Cinnaleve Helps Manage Type 2 Diabetes with the Natural Power of Cinnamon-Giveaway

January 8, 2014 by Kathryn 76 Comments

I have a few close friends and family members that developed Type 2 Diabetes in their mid to late adult years, and in Canada, that seems to be a common trend. In fact the Government of Canada estimates that there are about 2 million Canadians living with Diabetes, and a shocking 9/10 of those Canadians are Type 2 Diabetics. I remember a friend of mine whose mother was diagnosed with Type 2 Diabetes, but one of the encouraging things about this disease is that it can often be controlled and managed through diet changes and exercise rather than medication.

A natural solution is always a better solution in my mind, and that’s why Cinnaleve looked like such an intriguing product to me. Cinnaleve uses the power of cinnamon to help naturally promote healthy blood sugar levels. Suitable for both pre-diabetics and those with Type 2 Diabetes, it uses water-based cinnamon to help ensure there is no stomach irritation from the product, combined with essential vitamins and minerals such as Vitamin C, Vitamin E, Magnesium and Zinc. Enjoy Easy Holiday Brunch with this Sun-Maid Rise and Shine Raisin Coffee Bake Recipe

December 6, 2013 by Kathryn 41 Comments

When the busy holiday season starts, there’s just no better way to celebrate than with a tasty brunch to kick off the weekend. Brunch is one of those meals that Canadians really embrace, and with good reason! The mix of sweet and savoury foods and the casual buffet style of the meal makes enjoying good food and good company so easy! To celebrate Canada’s love of brunch, Sun-Maid has created four tasty recipes perfect for your holiday brunch plans and I just had to test one of them out myself.

I decided to try the Rise and Shine Raisin Coffee Bake. This easy cake-like dish is essentially a baked version of French toast, made festive with a tangy orange glaze. The best thing about this recipe is that it can be assembled before bed, covered and stored in the refrigerator to bake the next day. I did just that and the cake baked up to perfection the next morning.
