Treat Your Family to Dare Candy on Your Next Road Trip

August 18, 2016 by Kathryn Leave a Comment

Having been on quite a few road trips recently, I’ve really come to appreciate the importance of having lots of snacks in the car. I like to pack a mix of healthy snacks and treats so that we’re still getting some nutrition but also have special foods to make the trip more fun. That’s why I love bringing along a bag of fat-free, gelatin-free and peanut-free candy from Dare Candy Co!

So what makes Dare gummies, jubes and candies such a great treat option for those family trips? For one thing, there’s plenty of variety! For classic candy fans, choose from Dare Red Licorice and Black Licorice REALJUBES. Prefer a chewier texture with lots of fruit flavours? Dare REALFRUIT Gummies boast real fruit juice and a great texture with flavours including blueberry, pomegranate, lemon and strawberry. [Read more…]

Kids Will Love the Nutty Taste of #DarePeanutFree Bear Paws and Wagon Wheels with Wowbutter-Giveaway

September 17, 2014 by Kathryn 205 Comments

I’m very lucky to have two boys that so far don’t have any food allergies, but of course not everyone we know is so lucky. Our small-town school is very reasonable about peanut allergies and each year the teachers inventory the students and limit foods allowed in lunches on a class-by-class basis. The first few years, Zackary was still able to take peanut butter sandwiches and other nut-filled treats to school, as nobody in his class was allergic. But this year both of my boys have children with peanut allergies in their class.

That means I need to be careful when I’m packing snacks because, as the teachers say, if a snack isn’t labelled as being peanut-free, it’s not safe to send to school. So I was thrilled to learn about the new Dare Bear Paws and Wagon Wheels snacks made with Wowbutter! These treats use peanut-free Wowbutter, a spread that tastes just like peanut butter, to let kids enjoy a great nutty-tasting treat without actually eating nuts! [Read more…]

New Dare #REALFRUIT Berries and Chews are Perfect for Summer Snacking-Giveaway

July 17, 2014 by Kathryn 252 Comments

My boys and I live a pretty healthy lifestyle, complete with plenty of daily physical activity and a wide variety of wholesome foods. But all three of us have one big weakness when it comes to healthy eating…candy! It’s only natural that Zackary and Benjamin, at four and eight years of age, would be big fans of candy but I have to admit I’m as bad as they are. I resist the cravings for the most part but every once in a while I just have to indulge!

When that happens, I often buy a bag of Dare REALFRUIT Gummies. With real fruit juice in a variety of flavours, they’re a more natural choice for a delicious sweet treat. And now, Dare Candy Co has released two brand new candies perfect for summer snacking! Dare REALFRUIT Berries are soft and chewy bite-sized berries made with real raspberry juice. The berries are peanut-free, gluten-free, gelatin-free, fat-free and have no artificial colours or flavours. And Dare REALFRUIT Chews are gluten-free, come in five delicious flavours, are made with real fruit juice and also contain no artificial colours or flavours!

My boys and I received samples of the new Dare REALFRUIT candies to test out and of course, all three of us were happy to take on the task. We tried the Dare REALFRUIT Berries first and Benjamin especially just loved them. He tends to favour softer, sweeter candies and the rich raspberry flavour of the berries was perfect for him. I liked how easy portion control was with the berries too; when my boys wanted a snack I could quickly count out five or ten berries for each of them for a reasonably-sized treat. [Read more…]

Smooth Skin a Month Later with the Philips SatinPerfect Epilator and Philips BikiniGenie Trimmer in the #PhilipsDaretoBare Challenge

October 24, 2013 by Kathryn 5 Comments

Last month I received the Philips BikiniGenie trimmer and SatinPerfect epilator so that I could join in the Dare to Bare challenge. The mission was simple…to say goodbye to my razor and wax and start getting smooth with the epilator and trimmer instead. Philips provided me with some tips for making the process easier, but my first time epilating was still pretty painful! I stuck with it, and a month later, I have a few tips of my own about keeping skin smooth with the Philips SatinPerfect epilator!

philips satinperfect epilator

  1. It Does Get Better: Epilating is never going to be completely enjoyable, but the pain does get better after going through the process a few times. That’s partly because there is less hair to remove after using the epilator for a few weeks and partly because the body does get used to the feeling. So don’t give up too quickly!
  2. Try It Wet and Dry: When I first used the epilator, I did so in the shower and thought that the process would be significantly better epilating wet since the steam would open up the pores. But I actually found later that I preferred epilating when my skin was dry. It was quick and convenient to do and I seemed to remove more hair with less effort epilating out of the shower.
  3. Go Slow and Go Once: If you have sensitive skin, you may get a slight reaction from epilating. I get the same reaction waxing; for about ten minutes after my skin is red and bumpy before calming down. But the epilator can’t properly glide over my skin when it’s covered in little bumps, so slowing down and ensuring I only need to epilate an area of skin once each time is important for smooth results.

Power Up Your Kids and #FeedtheFun with New Bear Paws Morning Snack Blueberry and Vanilla Yogourt-Giveaway

April 4, 2013 by Kathryn 140 Comments

My boys are always on the go. I am amazed at how full of energy Zackary is at the end of a full day of school, something that used to tire me right out as a kid, and Benjamin seems to have the exact same temperament. All that running around means that I need to make sure they take a break for a healthy snack at some point. Zackary’s school requests that a morning snack be added to his lunch and Benjamin has a huge appetite in the morning that has me scrambling to fill him up.

When I got the chance to try the brand new yogourt varieties of Bear Paws Morning Snack cookies, I was thrilled. I want my boys to always enjoy healthy, well-balanced meals and snacks, so the Bear Paws Morning Snack Cereal & Blueberry Yogourt and Cereal & Vanilla Yogourt varieties, which contain 2g of fibre, 8g of whole grains and a source of calcium in every serving, seemed like the perfect choice for fuelling my little hurricanes.

My boys know that every package we receive usually has to be photographed before they can have it. This time they were so excited that they decided to arrange their package and photograph it themselves!

I received a very special Bear Paws Feed the Fun review package containing the two new yogourt-filled flavours of Bear Paws Morning Snack and an assortment of activities, toys and games perfect for my energetic boys. And since our school has a week-long break over Easter, the timing couldn’t have been more perfect! [Read more…]
