October 24, 2017 by Kathryn 36 Comments

As much as I love trying new and different foods and recipes, there’s just no beating a classic. And in our house, Kraft Creamy Peanut Butter has always been a classic choice for my recipes, whether I’m making a simple batch of peanut butter cookies or a savoury Thai Peanut Beef recipe.

So, when Kraft Canada asked me to share my favourite peanut butter recipe, choosing just one was no easy job! But I was in a nostalgic mood and craving something sweet, so I chose my very favourite foolproof Butterscotch Peanut Butter Confetti Squares recipe!

Gluten-Free Eating is Pure Joy with Inspired by Happiness Gluten-Free Cakes-Giveaway

February 8, 2016 by Kathryn 124 Comments

If there’s one thing that almost everyone loves, it’s cake. A big slice of moist cake covered in creamy icing is such a treat whether it’s for a birthday celebration or just a way to make an ordinary day more special. But for someone with food sensitivities, finding a cake that’s appropriate for a special diet yet still mouth-watering can be harder than it seems. Inspired by Happiness, a company that wants everyone to be able to enjoy tasty cake any time, wants to change that with its new gluten-free cakes. And recently I had the chance to test them out and see what I thought!

I received a Cravin’ for Cookies & Cream and a Dreamin’ of Chocolate layer cake to test, carefully packaged on dry ice to arrive frozen. I loved that when kept frozen, these cakes stay fresh and delicious for up to six months. Once thawed, they can be stored in the refrigerator for about a week. I let my boys decide which cake they wanted to try first, and both of them decided the Cookies & Cream cake was the one we had to try. I defrosted the cake at room temperature for about fifteen minutes and then cut a slice for each of us. [Read more…]

Bake Up a Decadent Holiday Cookies and Cream Cheesecake-Giveaway #BakersSecret

December 7, 2015 by Kathryn 80 Comments

With Christmas just a few weeks away, I am baking up a storm getting ready for the upcoming holiday. And whether I’m making cookies, candy, squares or slices, my Baker’s Secret pans are a must in my kitchen. I recently received the Baker’s Secret 5 pc. Easy Store Bakeware set, and it’s been an absolute must-have in my kitchen for holiday baking. The 9×13 cake pan is my personal favourite in the set; not only is it a great size for all kinds of squares, it’s ideal for my very favourite Cookies and Cream Cheesecake.

Celebrate Warmer Days with this Easy Spring Flower Cupcake Recipe #LMDConnector

March 27, 2013 by Kathryn 12 Comments

One of the things I love about spring is that time after the snow has melted and there is green grass and new little flowers everywhere. Here in Saskatchewan, that’s not something we get to enjoy in March too often. And this year has been especially miserable with the snow still taller than me out in the yard and temperatures that have only just started to reach the melting point in the last day or two.

I may not be able to enjoy green grass and sweet smelling flowers for another month or two, but spring is here and I want to celebrate! So I decided to create some fun little cupcakes for the family that captured the things I most love about spring. Taking my inspiration from the recipe for Spring Flower Brownies on the Life Made Delicious website, I treated my boys to Easy Spring Flower Cupcakes!

Make Your Easter Baking Easier with Frozen Berry Cream Pie

March 25, 2013 by Kathryn 170 Comments

I love making fancy, decadent desserts but between my blog and my boys, I don’t have a whole lot of time to spend in the kitchen. Quick and easy is the name of the game in this house!

I love pies for just that reason. Pastry is the most finicky part of most pies, but a store-bought shell simplifies the job and speeds up my cooking.

It took me quite a while to master a basic pie pastry and while I do make it myself every once in a while, I love using Tenderflake Deep Dish Pie Shells or my favourite graham cracker shell when I’m eager to get dessert finished quickly.

So when I was looking for a fun spring dessert for our family’s upcoming Easter celebration, I grabbed a graham cracker pie crust from the store and started brainstorming. Since spring always has me craving fresh, fruity flavours, I used the crust to create an incredibly simple Frozen Berry Cream Pie. [Read more…]
