Fall has always been a busy season for my family, and I have to admit that in the past that’s sometimes resulted in my serving a little more convenience food to my boys than I’d like. I love cooking but I often felt like I didn’t have time to create a tasty, home-cooked supper after a long day. Fortunately, Kraft Canada provided me with some inspiration thanks to its collection of quick and easy dinners! I decided to create my own twist on its Baked Mexican Fish Recipe with a fresh and delicious Pico de Gallo Baked Mexican Fish that’s ready in just 30 minutes!
Fall has always been one of my busiest times of year, but it’s also a time when I want to make sure that my family is eating healthy. And on one of those busy nights when my boys have extra-curricular activities and I’ve had a busy day of work, making a nutritious dinner that we’ll all enjoy can be a challenge!
That’s why I’ve fallen in love with the new Sobeys Seafood Steamer! The newest food option at Sobeys fish counter isn’t just delicious; it’s also a great quick and easy option for a healthy dinner. Using a special oven-safe bag that was inspired by the French cooking method en papillote (steaming fish in a parchment paper pouch), fish is customized to suit my family’s tastes then sealed in a handy pouch I can bake to perfection at home!
I decided to try the Seafood Steamer in one of Sobeys’ delicious-sounding recipes, so I headed to my local Sobeys fish counter to customize my meal. I found two beautiful boneless salmon fillets and requested them prepared with the Garlic & Parsley butter. A few minutes later, my Seafood Steamers were ready! Then it was time to get cooking, and the Warm Salmon and Roasted Vegetables Salad seemed like a perfect healthy fall dinner! [Read more…]
I love to cook and I especially love mastering new cooking styles and techniques from around the world. But, until recently, I’d never really delved into French cooking. Broil, braise, sauté, flambé…the techniques seemed a little too intimidating for me! Luckily, that all changed when I took part in Motrin’s #MakeitHappenMonday challenge! I set myself a goal of mastering a dinner-party-worthy menu of 3 classic French recipes and then spent the next two weeks turning my dream into a reality!
Now my menu has come to fruition and, thanks to a lot of preparation and some great advice from chef friends and others, it was absolutely spectacular. The three-course meal was everything I hoped it would be, and I loved learning so many new things along the way. [Read more…]
My boys’ first experience with Mexican food was a taco party made with an Old El Paso Dinner Kit, and while we’ve tried all kinds of different Mexican delicacies since then, Old El Paso tacos are still their favourite. Benjamin loves a soft taco and Zackary likes the crunchy shells, but both boys agree that Old El Paso is delicious!
I wouldn’t have though that this tasty treat could get any tastier, but Old El Paso and Kraft Canada have found a way with a very special offer! Between now and April 23, purchase select Old El Paso Dinner Kits to receive a coupon for Touch of Philadelphia Shredded Cheese. Take the coupon to the store and purchase another Old El Paso Dinner Kit and an Old El Paso Salsa to get the Touch of Philadelphia Shredded Cheese free! [Read more…]
There are a few dinners that I can always be sure my boys will eat and Old El Paso tacos are a meal choice that Zackary and Benjamin always devour. They would happily eat tacos every day if I let them, but I like a little more variety in my meals. And while I enjoy a tasty ground beef taco as much as anyone, I do often crave something more gourmet for dinner.
Now, Old El Paso has a new line of spft taco kits that satisfy both my boys and me. Old El Paso Restaurante soft taco kits feature restaurant-style flavour with at-home convenience. There are three delicious kits to choose from: Steak Carne Asada, Baja Fish and Chicken Tinga. And recently I received all three so that I could create my own Mexican feast.
I decided to make the Steak Carne Asada kit since it featured seasoning to make guacamole and I am a huge fan of anything involving avocados. I mashed the seasoning with one ripe avocado, set the finished guacamole aside and started making the steak. With just the seasoning pouch, water, oil and vinegar, this marinade couldn’t be easier. The smell had my mouth watering even before the meat was cooking! [Read more…]
