Breeze Though Spring Cleaning with Swiffer and Febreze #PGMom

May 2, 2016 by Kathryn 44 Comments

Spring cleaning is definitely not my favourite yearly event, but I must admit that I love the feeling of sitting down in a fresh, sweet-smelling house once the cleaning is done. And even the whole spring cleaning process isn’t as arduous as it once was, since I created an arsenal of P&G cleaning products! Everything from scrubbing floors to dusting fans is quicker and easier…and that means more time to enjoy the sunny weather!

This year, P&G sent me an assortment of some of its newest spring cleaning products so that I could get my house ready for a new season. I pulled out the Swiffer and Febreze products, rolled up my sleeves and got ready to tackle the jobs that mean “goodbye winter” to me!

One of the biggest and most time-consuming spring tasks here in Saskatchewan is packing away winter clothing. We have a huge bin of gloves, scarves, toques and more to keep the whole family toasty when snow is on the ground. But come sunny summer weather, the bin is a major space hog. Add in the snow pants and coats in the closet on top of that, and there’s a lot of gear to be cleaned and packed away! [Read more…]

Caring for Clothes-Behind the Scenes at the P&G Fabric Care Facility in Cincinnati

March 27, 2014 by Kathryn 22 Comments

There is nothing I love more than seeing behind the scenes, whether it’s at a concert or a factory. It’s one of the most educational experiences imaginable and recently I had the chance to tour the P&G Fabric Care facility in Cincinnati and learn more about the development, research and testing that go into beloved P&G products including Tide, Downy and Bounce.

When it comes to product development, P&G pulls out all the stops. Once a product is created, the research and testing that goes into it helps to ensure that it performs as expected is nothing short of phenomenal. We started our tour by learning about the torture tests that are done on fabrics so that people can see the difference in the products for themselves.

My personal favourite test was a comparison of three white designer shirts. One was washed ten times in a leading detergent. One was washed ten times in Tide+ Bleach Alternative. And one was washed ten times in the leading detergent and then five more times with the Tide detergent. The difference between the first and second shirts was obvious; the shirt washed in Tide looked like new while the other shirt had yellowed and showed discolouration around the seams and pockets. Keep Winter Clothing Smelling Great with Lysol Fabric Mist

November 16, 2012 by Kathryn 5 Comments

While some places in Canada are still relatively warm, Saskatchewan has welcomed winter in style with a huge snowfall! Last week the province suddenly went from balmy autumn weather to a winter wonderland and that meant that I had to quickly dive into the storage closet to pull out boots, ski pants and scarves for my boys.

Storing winter clothes is something that’s always a bit of a challenge in our little house. When winter ends, outdoor wear is put on hangers and stored in our upstairs closet. But even though I wash the coats and ski pants before putting them in the closet, they sometimes come out smelling a little musty. So how do I make sure that winter gear comes out of the closet fresh and ready to wear?

Add Extra Freshness to Your Spring-Cleaning with Lysol Fabric Refresher

May 6, 2012 by Kathryn Leave a Comment

Whether you love it or you hate it, one of the things that immediately comes to mind when most people think about spring is spring-cleaning. I have to say, I’m a hater, though there are a few spring-cleaning activities that I quite enjoy. My husband, on the other hand, loves spring-cleaning and goes all out with washing walls, steam cleaning carpets and generally making our big old house feel as new as possible.

All that cleaning means using a lot of cleaning products and one of our favourite new spring-cleaning essentials is the Lysol Fabric Refresher that I received in my welcome package when I was chosen as a Lysol Healthy Families Ambassador. Not only does this great fabric mist freshen fabric with the pleasant scent of Crisp Linen, Morning Rain or Blossoms & Springtime, but it also kills odour-causing bacteria!

Spring-cleaning in our home involves a lot of fabric care and I really appreciated having the extra help from Lysol Fabric Refresher. After my husband steam cleaned our horrible old living room carpet, we ensured that it smelled great and was as clean as possible by spraying it lightly with the mist. After washing our curtains, they received a spray as well.

We didn’t get around to steam cleaning the living room furniture so we decided to spray it liberally with the Lysol Fabric Refresher instead. It was a great way to quickly freshen the furniture without the hassle of actually deep-cleaning the upholstery.

To learn more about Lysol Fabric Refresher or any of Lysol’s other cleaning products, why not check out the Lysol Facebook page at www.facebook.com/lysolcanada. You can get great cleaning tips, participate in fun promotions and be the first to learn about the newest innovations from Lysol!

When you tackle your spring-cleaning, Lysol Fabric Refresher is a great way to add extra freshness to your house without adding extra work. I loved how fresh and clean our fabrics were after spring cleaning with the added power of Lysol Fabric Refresher. Whether you take pride in thoroughly cleaning every part of your house each spring like my husband does or you’re happy to take a shortcut or two like me, you’re sure to find a use for Lysol Fabric Refresher. Check it out for yourself and see what you think!
