Bond with Your Cat this Winter with These 3 Easy Tips

March 5, 2015 by Kathryn 2 Comments

Even though the long winter is finally reaching its end, there are still some cold days left before families can run and play outside. Since so many of us are trapped indoors, it’s a great time to cuddle up and spend some extra time with a beloved cat! Sadly, according to the Ontario SPCA, nearly one-fifth of cats were returned to shelters in Ontario in 2013, post-holiday. The top three reasons included cats conflicting with other pets in the home, allergic reactions and behavioural problems, including litter box issues. Spend some quality time with your cat to make them feel at ease and part of the family with these three great tips!

Treat their Tummies

Make sure your cats maintain a healthy and balanced diet. This may require consulting your veterinarian. Just like humans, cats have different nutritional needs depending on their age and health. Otherwise, stick to quality food and fresh, clean water. Despite popular belief, milk shouldn’t be a main source of hydration and may actually cause stomach discomfort. [Read more…]

Create the Purr-fect Forever Home for Your New Cat with These 4 Tips

November 18, 2014 by Kathryn 29 Comments

When we first got our cat, Racer, I wasn’t too enthusiastic about adding a pet to our home. I had enough to handle with a preschooler and a newborn in the house and didn’t want to have to worry about feeding and caring for anyone else. But within a few months, I couldn’t imagine life without my spunky Siamese cross and was so happy that she’d become a member of our family.

Spoil Your Cat with Health-Boosting Feline Greenies SmartBites Cat Treats

August 29, 2012 by Kathryn Leave a Comment

While our precious Siamese cross Racer’s diva-like attitude is sometimes a little irritating, I have to admit that it’s partly our own fault. Designer dishes from Martha Stewart Pets, bottled water to drink, the latest cat toys…no wonder she thinks she’s the queen of the house! And now that she’s being spoiled with Feline Greenies SmartBites every day, she may just start showing even more attitude! But even though these treats are delicious to her, they also provide great health benefits that make me happy to give her a treat when she wants one.

I recently received an assortment of SmartBites to give to Racer and I couldn’t wait to check them out. These fun treats come in three health-boosting varieties: Healthy Skin & Fur, Hairball Control and Digestive Care. Racer has the beautiful silky fur of a purebred Siamese and a tendency to eat things that she shouldn’t, so I was very excited for her to reap the different health benefits that the treats were designed to provide!
