Must-Visit Historic Sites and Attractions Near Saskatoon, Saskatchewan

July 30, 2017 by Kathryn 12 Comments

Canada’s 150th birthday celebration has been full of all kinds of excitement, but what I’ve loved most about the occasion has been getting the chance to see more of the beautiful and diverse country that I call home.

Ford Canada has been helping bloggers across the country explore some of the hidden treasures near their homes and recently I had the chance to do just that in the Ford F-150 Lariat!

Since I have a baby on the way, my husband and I decided not to venture too far away from our hometown of Saskatoon, but we soon realized that we didn’t have to travel very far for amazing experiences! On our first day, we drove to Fort Carlton, a Saskatchewan heritage site that was once an important stop on the Hudson Bay Company’s trade route.

One of the best things about this site is the fact that it’s so hands-on. We had the chance to feel the difference between the different types of furs that trappers brought to trade, see some of the iconic Hudson’s Bay blankets used by trappers and learn about the most popular items in Fort Carlton’s general store. Ford Shows Off 4 Top New Innovations at the 2016 North American International Auto Show #FordNAIAS

February 2, 2016 by Kathryn 31 Comments

For anyone that loves cars, the North American International Auto Show in Detroit is a chance to indulge in endless eye candy and new auto innovations to the heart’s content. But it’s also a chance for manufacturers to show off their latest and greatest developments. And Ford Canada is always at the forefront with vehicles, technology and transportation debuts that go above and beyond expectations.

This year was no exception, and I was honoured to be among a select group of Canadian bloggers that were offered the chance to attend the show with Ford and experience the future of the company firsthand. Toys, trucks and transportation innovation are all part of Ford’s plan for the next year. These are four of the ways Ford is blazing into 2016 in style!

Ford Partners with LEGO

If there’s one thing my boys love more than cars, it’s their beloved LEGO sets. And now they can have both thanks to a partnership between the beloved brick company and Ford! Available this March, LEGO is offering two fabulous Ford vehicle sets in its LEGO Speed Champions collection: the Ford F-150 set and the Ford Mustang set. The Mustang features 185 pieces and retails for $14.99. The F-150 set, complete with a custom garage, contains 664 pieces and retails for $49.99. The attention to detail on these sets are what had my heart racing…the truck even features a working suspension system! [Read more…]

Outdoor Adventures Fishing with Ford at Eagle Nest Lodge in Manitoba-Giveaway

July 30, 2013 by Kathryn 87 Comments

Living in Western Canada, I was raised to understand the importance of big trucks and big fish. A big truck was how farmers got around the fields, how homeowners hauled building supplies for inevitable renovations and repairs and how almost everybody dealt with the wear and tear of cruising on gravel roads. In fact, one of my earliest memories is sitting beside my dad in his old pickup driving down a winding gravel road in rural Saskatchewan.

Big fish, well…those were just for fun. Saskatchewan is an outdoorsy province, so hunting and fishing have always been a popular activity for us. From fishing in the nearby river as a child to heading out on a boat with friends as a teenager to eventually teaching my own son how to cast and reel, the combination of relaxation and pure excitement that fishing provides has always been something I love.

This adorable sign made of chocolate was waiting in my room at the start of my Fishing with Ford adventure!

So for me, getting an invitation from Travel Manitoba and Ford Canada to go “Fishing with Ford” wasn’t just exciting; it was pretty much a dream vacation. A day of cruising around Manitoba in a new Ford vehicle on a scavenger hunt followed by a trip to a fly-in fishing lodge for almost three days of fun on the water…what more could this small-town Saskatchewan girl ask for?

Go Team Blue!

The trip kicked off in Winnipeg and after a delicious dinner with my fellow writers and a good night’s sleep in the plush Fairmont Winnipeg Hotel, we were up bright and early to start our adventure. I was put on Team Blue with travel blogger Pam of Savoir Faire Abroad and we couldn’t wait to hop into our Ford F-150 Platinum Edition.
