Chocolate Covered Triscuit Crackers Make a Delicious Holiday Gift

December 12, 2017 by Kathryn 13 Comments

Ever since I was a child, Triscuit crackers have been my very favourite crackers. I love the crunch and texture of the whole wheat squares and I often have them with a few slices of cheese and some fresh veggies for a light lunch.

I’ll always have a special place in my heart for the original Triscuits, but I also adore the different flavoured crackers that are now available. The Roasted Garlic Triscuits are perfect for a charcuterie board. And the Balsamic & Basil crackers have the most addictive tangy-sweet flavour.

Show Off Your Love of Your Favourite Show with Netflix-Inspired DIY Halloween Costumes

October 19, 2016 by Kathryn 3 Comments

I’ve always been a fan of all the different holidays, and Halloween is a special favourite. I love creating fun homemade decorations, dressing up and handing out candy to the neighbourhood kids. And my boys love the fun of trick-or-treating and dressing up in fun costumes just as much! Last year, we took our costume inspiration from Avengers Assemble on Netflix Canada for our costumes and dressed as Iron Man, Captain America and Black Widow.

This year, both my boys have taken their costume inspiration from video games rather than television but personally, I’m thinking dressing up as Eleven from Stranger Things would be a fun and easy DIY costume choice! A pink dress, an oversized jean jacket, a white-blonde wig and sports socks would be all I needed to showcase this character from my new favourite Netflix exclusive series. Looking for a little inspiration for your own child’s look? Check out these three fun and easy DIY Netflix-inspired costume ideas! [Read more…]

Let Go of the Mom Guilt! Four Indulgences a Mom Should Never Feel Guilty About

September 27, 2016 by Kathryn 34 Comments

If there’s one thing that us moms have really mastered, it’s feeling guilty. Told your daughter you were out of ice cream so you could finish it when she went to bed? Convinced your son that hockey wasn’t that much fun so you wouldn’t have to deal with the huge investment of time and money? Invented a fake work trip to avoid taking part in the school fundraiser? Chances are you’re going to feel guilty about it at some point!

But the fact of the matter is that parenting is hard…and none of us are perfect! We’re going to mess up. We’re going to do things we regret. And sometimes, we’re going to feel guilty about something we really shouldn’t! There are the odd times that we feel we’ve really messed up. At those times, we need to apologize, forgive ourselves and move on. But there are also times we feel guilty and we really shouldn’t! If you’ve got Mom Guilt about any of these four things, it’s time to give yourself a break and #EndMomGuilt!

1) Going Out for Date Night

Date night isn’t just a fun night out for you and your husband, it’s a chance to stay connected as a couple and ensure a healthy relationship…something that will both benefit your kids right now and help them learn about the dynamic of a healthy relationship. Find a reliable sitter or a nearby family member, take off for the evening and enjoy a good meal, a movie WITHOUT animated characters or a few drinks at your favourite pub. You both deserve the chance to spend time with the love of your life! [Read more…]

Easy Granola Bars for Back to School and Savings from Kraft Canada

August 21, 2014 by Kathryn 62 Comments

It’s almost time for a new school year and that means I once again have to start thinking about packing school lunches for my boys! They tend to both favour simple meat sandwiches in their lunch, which makes my life a little easier, but they also need a daily healthy snack and personally, I like to make that snack myself to ensure I know exactly what my boys are eating.

Of course, I also don’t want to spend all day in the kitchen baking, and that’s why these easy granola bars have been a hit in our household for years now. With just one bowl, a little mixing and 25 minutes in the oven, I get about two weeks’ worth of tasty granola bars perfect for snacking at school!

eucerin beauty routine for summer

I have incredibly soft skin and it’s something that I want to maintain for as long as possible. So I’m quite proactive about making sure that my skin stays healthy and moisturized. Unfortunately, living in Saskatchewan and dealing with its harsh winter weather, that can be difficult to do! This winter was an especially hard one, but it’s finally come to a close and now that it has, I want to step up my beauty routine and ensure that I’m ready to bare a little skin this summer!

body scrub and ingredients

Healthy skin is something that I achieve in two simple steps: exfoliating and moisturizing. For exfoliation, I often make my own body scrub using kosher salt or sea salt, olive oil and essential oil. It works great and leaves my skin so smooth. And best of all, it takes just minutes to make! [Read more…]
