UrbanMoms Hunt’s Tomato Cook-off-Win a Slow Cooker!

October 5, 2011 by Kathryn 1 Comment

It feels like summer just ended so I can’t believe that Thanksgiving is this weekend! I have so much to be thankful for in my life: a wonderful home, a friendly neighbourhood, a great husband…but what I will always be most thankful for are my two incredible sons. Not a day goes by that I don’t give thanks for the joy and laughter they bring to my life and even in the most exasperating times I feel so lucky that I’ve been blessed with their presence.

thanksgiving feastIn just a few days, I’ll be giving thanks for my children and so many other things by sitting down to a big meal with the people that I am most thankful to have in my life: my husband and my two sons! I love to cook and even though our celebrations generally just consist of the four of us, our Thanksgiving meal is definitely fit for a crowd! I like to keep the meal fairly traditional with turkey, stuffing, potatoes, vegetables and the ever-popular slice of pumpkin pie for dessert. Best of all, I know when we’ve finished eating that I won’t have to cook again for the next week or so as we polish off the leftovers!

While we all love turkey too much to consider trying a different main course, I do sometimes get tired of the same old side dishes year after year. But luckily for me, this year Hunt’s and UrbanMoms have teamed up to create tasty and easy-to-make Thanksgiving side dishes using products that you can find in your pantry! I took a look at the recipes from UrbanMoms bloggers Gav and Kath and it was enough to have my mouth watering! While both dishes looked tasty, Kath’s Potatoes Pomodori au Gratin, a combination of potatoes, Hunt’s Original Diced Tomatoes and cheese, was something that I will definitely be trying this year! Traditional potatoes are wonderful but they can be a very heavy dish. This recipe sounded like a great way to make the classic potato side dish a little lighter. And in my opinion, there’s no better flavour combination that tomatoes and cheese!

urbanmoms hunt's prize packIf you want to check out the recipes for yourself, visit UrbanMoms and cast your vote for the recipe that you find most appealing. By commenting on which recipe you prefer, you’ll be entered to win an incredible Slow Cooker Prize Pack containing a Hamilton Beach Slow Cooker and an assortment of Hunt’s products! And as if that wasn’t enough to be thankful for, Hunt’s will also be supporting needy families throughout the contest. For each comment up to a maximum of 100, Hunt’s will donate one can of tomato product to the Cook-off winner’s (Gav’s or Kath’s) local food bank.

I can’t wait to try out the Potatoes Pomodori au Gratin this Thanksgiving and after seeing how easy cooking with Hunt’s tomatoes can be, I think I may try creating some of my own recipes! I generally save my Hunt’s tomatoes for pasta sauce, but the products can be used for so much more! So hop on over to UrbanMoms and see how easy creating tasty Thanksgiving side dishes with Hunt’s tomatoes can be. And don’t forget to enter to win your very own Slow Cooker prize pack while you’re there!
