The End of Summer is Extra Sweet with No-Churn S’mores Ice Cream

August 26, 2015 by Kathryn 16 Comments

The first day of school is less than a week away here in Saskatchewan, but I’m holding onto summer as hard as I can! And with highs of around plus 30 degrees all week, that’s not hard to do right now.

To make the most of the last few days of our vacation, I really wanted to whip up a treat that just screamed summer. And after being inspired by Kraft Canada’s S’mores recipes, I knew just what flavour of treat I wanted!

Sooth Swollen Muscles with New Deep Relief Ice Cold Spray

October 1, 2014 by Kathryn 151 Comments

Hunching over a computer all day means that I often deal with neck pain, stiff shoulders and strained muscles. And for quite some time I’ve been using Deep Relief Heat Spray to help relax the muscles and relieve the pain. But there are times when heat therapy isn’t the best choice for pain relief, and that’s why I was curious about the new Deep Relief Ice Cold Spray.

This latest product from Deep Relief offers an icy-cold cooling sensation in a convenient spray bottle to help relieve aches and pains. Cold therapy is especially good for swollen and inflamed muscles since the cooling action reduces blood flow to help relieve swelling, and also numbs the area to help relieve pain.

Treat Minor Injuries with Hot or Cold Therapy Thanks to THERA°PEARL Packs-Giveaway

August 6, 2014 by Kathryn 169 Comments

As a somewhat clumsy mom with two very active boys, it goes without saying that we have our fair share of bumps, bruises, strains and sprains in this house. In fact, in the last week alone my youngest son got a black eye playing with his brother, my oldest scraped his knee racing in the back yard and I managed to both strain my shoulders hunching over my computer and sprain my finger playing football with my siblings.

With minor injuries being a fairly major part of our lives, having plenty of first-aid treatment available is a must and recently I had the chance to test out a new option for both hot and cold therapy for minor injuries. THERA°PEARL packs are innovative and reusable packs filled with pearl technology beads that can either be microwaved to provide heat therapy or frozen and used cold. I received an assortment of THERA°PEARL products to test out and I was very excited to give them a try.

Of course, both of my boys immediately fell in love with the THERA°PEARL Pals Frog, an adorable frog-shaped pack perfect for bumps and bruises. In fact, when Benjamin got his black eye, the first thing I did was take out the pack and let him use it on the bruise. Not only did the cold help with the swelling, but getting to hold the cheery little frog helped Benjamin to feel better too! [Read more…]

Add Convenience To Your Kitchen with the Luma Comfort IM200SS Stainless Steel Clear Ice Maker-Giveaway

February 15, 2014 by Kathryn 366 Comments

There are some small appliances that I’ve considered adding to my home in the past, but decided against. Usually I just feel like the appliance won’t provide enough benefit to offset the space the device would take up, since my kitchen is quite small. But every once in a while I discover a new kitchen accessory that becomes an essential in my home so quickly that I wonder how I ever lived without it.

That’s what happened when Luma Comfort sent me its IM200SS Stainless Steel Portable Clear Ice Maker. I’ve always thought ice makers were such neat appliances, but buying one seemed like a needless expense when I can make ice in a tray in the deep freeze. Boy, was I wrong! I cannot believe how handy it is to have this compact little countertop appliance in my home and I would never want to be without one again. [Read more…]

Stellar Performances, Special Effects and Leather Pants Make Stars on Ice a Hit

May 16, 2013 by Kathryn 2 Comments

Figure skating is such a beautiful sport. The combination of athletic ability, breathtaking tricks and beautiful choreography captivates me every time and I love watching a really good show. Recently Jergens offered me the chance to check out the Saskatoon performance of Stars on Ice featuring some of Canada’s most popular and talented figure skaters including Patrick Chan, Ashley Wagner and the incredible Kurt Browning, my favourite figure skater ever since I watched him win the World Championships when I was just a child.

But as much as I would have loved to attend, the two-hour drive was a bit much to manage and I knew that my mother and sister would appreciate the experience even more since my sister used to be a figure skater herself. My mother, Sharlee and her good friend Hannah were thrilled to head to the Credit Union Centre in Saskatoon to check out the show and the girls loved it so much, they couldn’t stop talking about it!
