Discover Handmade Treasures from Across Canada with the Canadian Originals Subscription Box-Giveaway

June 20, 2017 by Kathryn 41 Comments

As somebody that loves to travel, I absolutely adore discovering handcrafted trinkets from around the world. Whether it’s a treasure discovered on a vacation, like my embroidered Romanian blouse and Irish crystal glasses, or something shipped to my door like my painted salt and pepper shakers from the Palestine Territories, those little mementos let me enjoy the world’s beauty in the comfort of my own home. But on my quest for the world’s most stunning handmade goods, I sometimes forget how many beautiful arts and crafts are created right here in my own country of Canada!

That’s why I’m loving the idea behind the Canadian Originals subscription box. Each month, a box packed with artisan goods created by talented Canadians arrives at the lucky recipient’s front door to enjoy. From food to beauty products to wall art, the variety means the whole family will find products to love. And discovering great new products and companies right here in Canada is always a treat! I recently received the debut July Subscription Box, celebrating Canada’s 150th birthday, to review and I couldn’t wait to check out the contents.

Tangerine Celebrates #OneYearBolder by Supporting #BrightWayForward Charities

May 14, 2015 by Kathryn 37 Comments

I’ve used Tangerine as my savings bank of choice for a few years now, but the company recently underwent a name change and today it celebrates #OneYearBolder as Tangerine! I have to admit, I like the new name a lot, but what was most important to me was that the great service and savings from the bank stayed the same…and it did!

But that service doesn’t just include providing great banking options to Canadians. It also includes supporting local communities through the Bright Way Forward program! This fabulous initiative supports local charities across Canada through sponsorships, financial donations and more!

So what types of programs does Bright Way Forward assist? These are just some of the amazing partnerships the organization has right now: [Read more…]

Treat Your Taste Buds to a Canadian-Inspired Chipotle Maple Bacon Jam Recipe

May 4, 2015 by Kathryn 98 Comments

Ever since I was a child, I’ve had a bit of a maple syrup obsession. It’s not something that we had in the house often, but any time we did I would put it on everything from pancakes to oatmeal. Now, as an adult, I always have maple syrup in the house so that I can add its unique, natural sweetness to any dish I desire.

If anyone had asked me, I would have said there was no way to make maple syrup any more delicious than it already is, but PURE Infused Maple Syrup has found a way with its unique syrups infused with complementary flavours.

From Lavender & Chai to Chipotle & Lemongrass, these syrups take a product I already adore to a gourmet level! Recently I received all five varieties of PURE Infused Maple Syrup so that I could cook up a tasty recipe that showed off the syrup in a unique way.

Prepare to Be Dazzled at the Cirque du Soleil Dralion Performance Coming to Regina December 10

December 2, 2014 by Kathryn 62 Comments

There’s simply nothing better than a Cirque du Soleil performance and in just a few days, the hit show Dralion is coming to Regina! One of the show’s jugglers, Vladimir Pestov, was recently at Queen Victoria Estates seniors’ home to share a sneak peek of some of the dazzling acts that can be expected.

The juggling was incredible, the costumes were gorgeous and the teaser performance definitely had me excited for the upcoming show. And since Dralion, which has performed in more than 150 cities, is soon going to be retired, this is a once-in-a-lifetime chance to experience this stunning performance.

Choosing Interac Debit and Interac Flash Help You Support Your Favourite Local Businesses #YourChoiceMatters

November 19, 2014 by Kathryn 51 Comments

One of the things I love most about living in a small town is the connection I have with the people in the community. I’ve been in the same town since I was born so many of my friends and neighbours have known me ever since I was a young child. And now, as an adult, many of the people I know from my school days have started their own families and businesses in the community.

The main street of Lumsden is where the vast majority of the town’s businesses are found and most of them are locally owned and operated. It goes without saying that I have a close personal connection to many of them. In fact, my friend Lasha, who was one of the members of my graduating class, owns and operates a fabulous bakery in one of the street’s oldest buildings. And my younger brother’s former classmate Deanna runs a great massage therapy and aesthetics shop just a few steps down the street.
