6 Reasons You Should Visit California On Your Next Vacation

My family has taken a lot of vacations over the years, and discovered a lot of places to love. And one of the most fun-filled trips we ever took was to beautiful California. When people think of California, places like Hollywood, Silicon Valley and the Napa Valley wine region tend to spring to mind. But […]

Easy Granola Bars for Back to School and Savings from Kraft Canada

August 21, 2014 by Kathryn 62 Comments

It’s almost time for a new school year and that means I once again have to start thinking about packing school lunches for my boys! They tend to both favour simple meat sandwiches in their lunch, which makes my life a little easier, but they also need a daily healthy snack and personally, I like to make that snack myself to ensure I know exactly what my boys are eating.

Of course, I also don’t want to spend all day in the kitchen baking, and that’s why these easy granola bars have been a hit in our household for years now. With just one bowl, a little mixing and 25 minutes in the oven, I get about two weeks’ worth of tasty granola bars perfect for snacking at school!

Pack Perfect Lunches Easily with New Rubbermaid LunchBlox Kids Kits-Giveaway

August 8, 2013 by Kathryn 149 Comments

My boys and I are trying our best to enjoy the last lazy days of summer, but I can’t help but turn my mind towards the upcoming school year too. Zackary will be entering Grade 2, Benjamin will be attending Pre-Kindergarten and both boys need all kinds of supplies for their upcoming days. Lunch gear is always one of the things at the top of my list but this year, my boys are ready to head back to school in style thanks to Rubbermaid!

I had the chance to review the handy Rubbermaid LunchBlox sandwich and salad kits from Rubbermaid last year and while they were great for packing food neatly and keeping meals fresh and cold, the lids on the containers were a little hard to open. For an adult that’s not a big deal but a child at school needs to be able to open lunch containers on their own.

November 30, 2012 by Kathryn 7 Comments

Like most moms, I know that smart storage can help to keep a house organized and a family unit running smoothly. Our house isn’t very big so I find that keeping everything in its place is especially important. Letting things get disorganized can lead to total chaos in no time in such a small space! That’s why I’m so excited for the Rubbermaid Storage Solutions Twitter Party!

Making Lunches Just Got Easier with Rubbermaid LunchBlox Kits-Giveaway

June 14, 2012 by Kathryn 268 Comments

I love reusable lunch containers and since Zackary started preschool back in 2010, I’ve amassed quite a collection. While I still use pre-packaged snacks some days for convenience, I really like being able to pack up small portions of crackers, fruit or other items without using individually packages snacks or creating waste with plastic sandwich and snack bags. So when I heard about the newest lunch-packing products from Rubbermaid, I couldn’t wait to check them out.

rubbermaid lunch blox sandwich kitRubbermaid LunchBlox kits are interlocking containers designed to snap together in multiple configurations to efficiently use the space in your lunch box or bag. They are BPA free and freezer, microwave and dishwasher safe. I received both the Salad Kit and the Sandwich Kit to review and I couldn’t wait to try them out.

The first thing I noticed about the LunchBlox was the fact that they used a Blue Ice insert that was specially fitted to work with the LunchBlox containers. To ensure that the lunch I was making stayed cold and fresh, I just popped the Blue Ice insert into the freezer the night before and then locked it into place on the LunchBlox containers when packing up the lunch in the morning. The handy design let the containers snap into the Blue Ice freezer pack to keep the lunch bag neat and the food nice and cold! [Read more…]

Dog Chew Toys: Why You Need Them and What You Should Buy

Most pet owners have, at one point or another, dealt with a dog’s chewing, especially if you recently added a new puppy to your family.
