Eliminate Snack Spills with Playtex Twist ‘N Click Snacker Cups #MomTrust

August 3, 2014 by Kathryn 36 Comments

What makes Playtex Infant such a fabulous company in my mind is its constant innovation. And while there are a few products that showcase that characteristic, my personal favourite is the Twist ‘N Click line of bowls and snack cups. There is nothing worse than having food or snacks spill or leak out of their containers and so when Playtex made it a goal to solve the problem, I knew I had to check it out.

What really appeals to me about this line is that it’s perfect for travelling and my favourite travel accessory is the Twist ‘N Click Snacker Cup. My boys are fairly good about eating in the car, but every once in a while something goes wrong and I end up having to clean up a huge mess. In fact, on our last road trip my youngest son managed to spill chocolate milk all over himself and the seat not just once, but twice!

Top Three Ways to Spend Time Outside with Your Baby this Summer #MomTrust

May 27, 2014 by Kathryn 31 Comments

Maybe it’s because I live in a province that’s known for harsh winter weather, but as far as I’m concerned, there is nothing more wonderful than being outside once warm weather has arrived in Saskatchewan. In fact, for the last two weekends I’ve been in the back yard relaxing in a lawn chair reading almost from dawn until dusk!

While my boys are usually outside with me as well, they spend those sunshine-filled hours playing on the swing set, jumping on the trampoline or running through the sprinkler. But even when they were younger, I found plenty of ways to have fun outside with them. This month, the Playtex Mom Trust asked me to share a few of my favourite outdoor activities with infants and toddlers. If you have a baby in the house, these are my top three ways to have fun outside with your baby this summer!

Get Walking

Not only is walking great exercise, it’s a chance for your little one to see more of the world around him. Even a simple walk around the block exposes a baby to new sights, sounds and smells that help expand his knowledge of the world. I used to make a daily trip to the post office each day pushing my baby in the stroller, with occasional longer walks to run errands or visit the park. He loved relaxing in his seat in the shade as we walked! [Read more…]

New Playtex Sippy Cups Keep Drinks Cold with No Spills-Giveaway #MomTrust

May 20, 2014 by Kathryn 94 Comments

If there’s one essential parental must-have for children transitioning from a bottle to a cup, it has to be the sippy cup. A good sippy cup just makes life so much easier…children can’t spill the beverage, the cups are designed to be easy for little hands to hold and the portion size is just right. My boys used a lot of different sippy cups when they were toddlers, but all the cups they used were from Playtex, because the company does such a great job of making sippy cups that work for a variety of needs.

Now, Playtex has debuted a new and improved line of sippy cups with different key purposes so that parents and their little ones can find the perfect cup for them. The TrainingTime cup is designed for babies that are four months or older. It features removable handles for easy gripping so that parents can transition their little ones to the feel of a real cup. The AnyTime cup is designed for babies nine months and older and features a contoured design that’s easy for little hand to hold and a special spout that makes controlling the flow of liquid easier. The PlayTime cup is larger for children 12 months and older and insulated so that children’s drinks stay cold. And the TravelTime cup is perfect for children 24 months and older and features a straw lid with a sliding top to keep the straw clean. [Read more…]

Houses Smell Fresh with New Playtex Diaper Genie Carbon Filters #MomTrust

April 22, 2014 by Kathryn 36 Comments

It’s funny how quickly a mother forgets the smell of dirty diapers once her kids are potty trained, yet how quick the memory returns when there is a baby in the house once more. When my boys were younger, a Diaper Genie was a product that I’d often thought about buying, but I never actually followed through. The smell of dirty diapers was something that I just got used to after a while, but I was sure happy when those diaper days were over!

Then my sister came to visit for a week and with not one, but two little ones in diapers, that distinctive scent was once again filling my house. And I was shocked at just how strong it was! My sister actually has a Diaper Genie in her own house, but since Playtex had just released a brand new Diaper Genie Carbon Filter to help eliminate smells even better, I decided the timing was perfect to set up my own Diaper Genie and see how the filters worked in it. Challenges and Solutions Using Bottles After Long-Term Breastfeeding #MomTrust

April 2, 2014 by Kathryn 2 Comments

When I gave birth to my oldest son, I was determined to breastfeed right from the beginning. My mom had breastfed all five of her children, sometimes for quite extended periods, and I didn’t even really consider not doing the same. I think I assumed it would be easy because it always looked so easy for her, so when I started breastfeeding and my nipples ended up cracked and bleeding, I was upset and confused. About two days after returning home from the hospital, I even considered giving up altogether. But I didn’t. I stuck it out and within about a month, breastfeeding was as natural as breathing to me.

Even so, a time came when my boys used bottles as well. At about one year of age, I would give my children whole milk in a bottle during the day or with meals as I gradually reduced their number of feedings. And I learned very quickly that finding the right bottle was HARD! Most of the bottles I owned had been designed for much younger babies, though I didn’t realize that at the time, and that meant that my boys simply weren’t getting milk quickly or easily enough. They had a tendency to chew on the nipples of the bottles to make the milk flow faster, which of course completely destroyed the nipples fairly quickly. [Read more…]
