Step Into the Ontario Cottage Life Affordably with Great Blue Resorts

July 22, 2016 by Kathryn 6 Comments

Last year my fiancé and I took the boys on a trip to Ontario to stay with his family for a few weeks and explore the area. We had a great time visiting zoos, checking out some of Toronto’s top attractions and meeting extended family members. But for me, the highlight of the visit was spending time at the family’s gorgeous cabin on the lake. The location was so peaceful and serene, and there was nothing better than waking up and sitting outside by the water with a steaming cup of coffee, or even going for a morning swim.

Ever since that moment, I’ve dreamed of owning a cottage of my own. But for the average working couple, buying property in cottage country is a costly luxury. A two-bedroom cottage in a prime location currently often sells for half a million dollars or more. More affordable options often mean buying property much further away or taking on a lengthy renovation of a fixer-upper. What’s a family that wants to get away from it all to do?

Find Trustworthy Newmarket Movers at a Top Moving and Storage Company

April 1, 2016 by Kathryn Leave a Comment

When I sold my house and moved to Moose Jaw last summer, a lot of work went into packing and transporting the bulk of my house to a storage unit in Regina. Later that same year, my fiance and I moved from his small two-bedroom apartment to a roomier three-bedroom townhouse. We hired a mover to get the big furniture from one place to another, and then later rented a truck and spent the day moving boxes from my storage locker to our townhouse basement.

It was a long and exhausting process, but I have to say that I was amazed by how much easier hiring the movers had made the experience. And if I could have found a reliable mover that also offered storage, moving from one place to another would have been a breeze!

Now, for those looking for Newmarket Movers, that need is being filled by Bradford Moving and Storage! I recently saw an article about the company that was shared on Twitter about its storage space expansion, giving the company the largest climate controlled self-storage facility in the York area. The family-owned business is clearly passionate about making the moving process as easy as possible for other families, and the expansion of the storage space is just one way that the company is doing that. You Could Win the Trip of a Lifetime When You Play THE GAME OF LIFE – CAA Edition #CAAGOL

October 13, 2014 by Kathryn 21 Comments

THE GAME OF LIFE has been a popular board game for decades, in large part because it’s so easy for people to relate to. After all, we often play our own game of life in different ways each and every day. The challenges we face to accomplish our goals may be frustrating at times, but once we’ve conquered them, that feeling of having won is just unbeatable!

For me, buying my first house was my ultimate challenge in the game of life. I’d had some credit problems in the past, so the process involved planning, budgeting and saving for months before I could even hope to get a mortgage. I applied once but the application was rejected. Then I had numerous meetings with the mortgage specialist at my bank to help determine what more I could be doing to have my mortgage approved.

Finally, I started shopping around by connecting with mortgage brokers and seeing if they were able to offer me an approved mortgage at a good rate. I found a broker that was able to line up a lender, but the rates were quite a bit higher than the current prime rates that major banks were offering. Before accepting, I decided to try filing an application one last time with my current bank. And to my delight, the application was approved! [Read more…]

Help Your Child Build Confidence for Life at Muskoka Woods Summer Camp #MuskokaWoods2013

April 29, 2013 by Kathryn 12 Comments

I still remember that moment when my mom dropped me off at overnight camp for the very first time. I was an outgoing and adventurous child, but attending camp was going to be my first time sleeping away from my family with children I had never met and I couldn’t help feeling a little nervous and lonely as my mom drove away.

But before I knew it, I was completely captivated by all the fun activities at overnight camp. I made lots of new friends, had a great time eating in the large dining hall and learned some of the silliest songs I had ever heard sitting around the campfire at night. Since I was quite young, we didn’t participate in activities such as archery or canoeing. But that didn’t mean that we didn’t have lots of fun! Nature hikes, arts and crafts, swimming and sports filled my days.
