Turn Memories into Art with Canvas Factory-Giveaway

One of my favourite things about a family vacation is looking through all the great pictures afterwords. While they all bring back special memories, there’s always one or two photos that seem to sum up the entire vacation for me. And there’s no better way to preserve the memories of a great vacation than by having one of those photos transformed into a beautiful piece of wall art!

Recently Canvas Factory gave me the chance to do just that with one of my recent photos, and I immediately started browsing through the pictures from our recent trip to Orlando to see which one I wanted to use. There were a few that I liked, but I eventually decided on a photo of my boys and their Nanny in front of the Tree of Life at Disney’s Animal Kingdom. It was the boys’ first time in Disney World and I knew that was a moment I wanted to remember.

Sharing Everyday Moments with Photo Art from BLACKS Photography

There is nothing that makes me happier than capturing a great image of my boys. And often, my favourite pictures are ones I take during fleeting everyday moments. Taking a decent picture of Benjamin with the perfect smile or Zackary whizzing down the street on his bike isn’t as easy as it sounds and when I succeed in freezing one of those fleeting moments in time, I want to show it off.

Recently I had the chance to do just that by turning some of my favourite Instagram images of everyday moments into wall art and other photo products at BLACKS.CA. As I just painted and renovated my living room last year, I’m still perfecting its décor and I was so excited to have the chance to add some fun and meaningful artwork of my boys’ special moments to our walls.

Enjoy Our Nation’s Beauty with the 2012 ROYALE Canada Collection-Giveaway

Canada Day is quickly approaching and celebrating our nation’s birthday always makes me think about how lucky I am to live in such a beautiful and inspiring country. From towering mountains to sandy beaches, wide-open plains to deep, mysterious forests, Canada’s natural beauty is absolutely astounding. And to celebrate that beauty, ROYALE challenges Canadians to send in their best photographs each year for the annual ROYALE Canada Collection.

For the 2012 Collection, more than 9,000 photos were submitted and more than 500,000 votes determined the winners. And one of the honoured recipients was a woman from my own home province of Saskatchewan! Mrs. Julia Herperger was kind enough to join me for a brief interview so that I could get the inside scoop on her thoughts on photography and her winning picture:
