Must-Visit Historic Sites and Attractions Near Saskatoon, Saskatchewan

July 30, 2017 by Kathryn 12 Comments

Canada’s 150th birthday celebration has been full of all kinds of excitement, but what I’ve loved most about the occasion has been getting the chance to see more of the beautiful and diverse country that I call home.

Ford Canada has been helping bloggers across the country explore some of the hidden treasures near their homes and recently I had the chance to do just that in the Ford F-150 Lariat!

Since I have a baby on the way, my husband and I decided not to venture too far away from our hometown of Saskatoon, but we soon realized that we didn’t have to travel very far for amazing experiences! On our first day, we drove to Fort Carlton, a Saskatchewan heritage site that was once an important stop on the Hudson Bay Company’s trade route.

One of the best things about this site is the fact that it’s so hands-on. We had the chance to feel the difference between the different types of furs that trappers brought to trade, see some of the iconic Hudson’s Bay blankets used by trappers and learn about the most popular items in Fort Carlton’s general store. Get Fresh with Your Lunch at the New Freshii Restaurant in Saskatoon

November 30, 2016 by Kathryn 15 Comments

I am notorious for skipping meals when I’m busy, and I know it’s a habit I need to correct. Sometimes it’s hustling and bustling at home that has me forget about breakfast or lunch. But just as often, I’ll be out running errands at noon and not be able to find a lunch place that suits my tastes. That’s why I was so excited to hear that Freshii has a brand-new location in Saskatoon. The chain’s fresh and light juices, burritos, bowls and salads sounded ideal for somebody like me that prefers a lighter, plant-based lunch, and I couldn’t wait to check it out.

I had the chance to head to Freshii for lunch a few days ago and with so many delicious menu options, I had trouble deciding just what to choose. Eventually I decided on an Oaxaca Bowl, a side of Vegan Chili and a Carrot Zinger juice. The fresh-pressed juice was a special treat, featuring carrot, green apple and ginger pressed fresh every morning. With one sip, I was pretty sure I’d be stopping at Freshii again! [Read more…]

TELUS Inspires Today’s Youth Through We Day and the We365 App

November 20, 2014 by Kathryn 49 Comments

For the last three years I’ve had the privilege of attending We Day Saskatchewan and I always come out of the event impressed by the passion of today’s youth and inspired to make a bigger difference in the world myself. Teaching my boys about social responsibility and supporting the causes they believe in is a big part of that and this year I decided that my eight-year-old son Zackary was finally old enough to attend We Day with me.

TELUS has been a proud sponsor of We Day each time I attended and this year was no exception. I’ve been a TELUS customer for a long time and while that’s partially because the company offers such amazing smartphone plans, it’s also because of its passion for bettering the world. The ongoing sponsorship of We Day is a perfect example of that.

A Radiant Experience with Demi Lovato, Always and Tampax-Giveaway

October 28, 2014 by Kathryn 223 Comments

While I’m a woman with plenty of self-confidence today, in my teens I was painfully shy with no self-esteem. It took many years of learning and growth to reach the point of recognizing my own self-worth and while the reward was worth every moment of that journey, it’s one that I can’t help but hope will be easier for the young girls in my life today. Having strong, confident female role models can certainly help with that and Demi Lovato is the perfect example of a young woman that is using her talent to help those around her.

Recently, thanks to a partnership between Demi Lovato and the Always and Tampax Radiant collection, I had the chance to see Demi Lovato perform live in Saskatoon and while I knew there would be plenty of great music to enjoy, I didn’t know just how inspiring the event would be. I took my sister and my young niece to the concert with me and from the moment we arrived, we were ready for fun.

Katy Perry’s #PrismaticWorldTour with COVERGIRL #InstaGlam #PGMom

September 3, 2014 by Kathryn 34 Comments

There’s nothing better than a live concert and I never pass up a chance to attend one when I can. Still, sometimes an extraordinary concert experience comes along and last week I had just such a moment when COVERGIRL sent my youngest son and me to see Katy Perry’s Prismatic World Tour.

It’s almost impossible not to be familiar with most of Katy Perry’s hits considering how often they’re played on the radio. And with my boys’ school playing the top popular music at lunch hours, even Zackary and Benjamin sing along to some of her songs. But hearing the music and actually attending a concert are two completely different things.
