Add Affordable New Looks to Your Wardrobe with Top Tier Style

October 26, 2017 by Kathryn Leave a Comment

Fall is one of my favourite times to try new fashions. While shorts and sundresses are fun too, the cooler temperatures actually add a bit more versatility to my wardrobe. But with back-to-school expenses and extra-curricular activities to pay for, I don’t want to spend a fortune on clothing either!

That’s where Top Tier Style comes in. The company offers trendy fashions at great prices so I can update my look affordably. This year, Top Tier Style offered to send me a dress and a pair of sunglasses to review. I knew at once that the Strap V-Neck Split Beach Summer Dress and the Black Lens Vintage Steampunk Sunglasses would be the perfect new additions to my wardrobe. [Read more…]

Top Four Vehicle Picks for Canadians from the CIAS Canadian International Auto Show

March 23, 2014 by Paresh Pandya 49 Comments

I recently had the opportunity to visit the Canadian International Auto Show held at the Metro Toronto Convention Center. The Auto Show has been a tradition of mine for years as I never miss the chance to spend a day (or two!) eyeing all the hot new cars manufacturers have lined up for us to ogle. With nameplates like Ferrari, Maserati, McLaren, and Porsche all on display, it’s easy to start thinking about buying a few more lottery tickets or selling a body part to make a down payment.

But as much fun and excitement the exotics offer, a good portion of the show’s 600,000 square-foot floor is dedicated to everyday cars and trucks purchased by Canadians daily. With over 1,000 vehicles on display, it’s the best place for visitors to comparison shop without any pressure or hassles. Having checked out various makes and models, here are a few of my favourite picks for Canadians:

Mazda3

At the show Mazda won 2014 Canadian Car of the Year for their mid-sized Mazda6 sedan. While the floor was buzzing with excitement over the win, I found myself just as excited by its smaller brother the Mazda3. With gorgeous flowing lines, the bold grill and swept-back headlight assembly completes a package that says, “Hey! Let’s go someplace fun today!”

Inside I found controls to be within easy reach, while its BMW-esque dashboard (particularly the center display unit) gives a sense of premium styling and features. Fuel economy is also a key feature with Mazda’s Skyactiv suite of technologies delivering impressive results while maintaining Mazda’s peppy drive characteristic. With a choice of sedan or hatchback, there’s plenty of options and trim levels to appeal to a wide array of buyers (personally I love the GT hatchback with the larger 2.5L engine). I wasn’t too thrilled with the overly sized center tachometer, but that’s a minor detail I’m willing to overlook given how terrific the rest of the car is. [Read more…]

New Sheer Tints by OPI Are a Fun Twist on the Traditional Top Coat

March 5, 2014 by Kathryn 4 Comments

I love OPI nail products because the company is always innovating, and new Sheer Tints by OPI are a perfect example of that. These fresh new top coats are a clear, tinted nail lacquer that is applied over coloured polish to create a rainbow of fun nail designs. I received the four new Sheer Tints by OPI shades to review recently and decided to test them out over the same solid polish to see how the tints would change my look.

I used the mint green Alex by the Books Nicole by OPI polish as my base polish. Then one it was dry, I applied I Can Teal You Like Me, a sheer teal blue, on one hand and Don’t Violet Me Down, a crystal sheer amethyst, on the other. The blue gave my nails a great oceanic look with blue and green both showing through, but I liked the purple even better. It blended with the light green colour to create a subtle ombre effect that was so pretty! [Read more…]
