Celebrate International Women’s Day with 4 Inspiring Documentaries from Netflix

March 21, 2017 by Kathryn 15 Comments

As the only women in a house full of males, I often think about how lucky I am to have a husband that truly understands the importance of feminism, and I also wonder how I can best teach my boys that same respect for women. Since International Women’s Day just passed, finding ways to celebrate how far we’ve come in forwarding women’s rights and investigating what we can do better is on the forefront of many people’s minds. If you’re looking for some inspiration, these four documentaries on Netflix are a great place to start!

Miss Representation

I had the chance to see an exclusive premier of this movie when it first debuted and it has a powerful message about the destructive representation of women by the entertainment and media industries. Seeing the way that the media’s portrayal of women influences the way women are perceived by society had me inspired to find ways to change the narrative and ensure women are seen as the strong, complex and unique individuals they truly are. My Leaf Origin Women’s Hair Review

August 7, 2014 by Kathryn 34 Comments

I pride myself on my long, thick and healthy hair but I have to admit that I’m starting to see a difference in my hair as I age. While I certainly can’t say that my hair is thin, I do notice that it’s breaking more easily and it doesn’t have the same bounce as it did when I was in my twenties. Aging hair is one of those things that almost every woman will have to battle at some point and while there are plenty of shampoos and treatments that claim to help, there are definitely questions about their effectiveness.

That’s why I found the concept of Leaf Origin Women’s Maximum Hair Recovery intriguing. This oral vegetarian capsule supplement contains a variety of natural ingredients specifically designed to boost the health of hair, making it thicker, shinier and more youthful. I received a few bottles of the supplement to test out and I was very excited to see how it worked for me.

Walk Safely at Night with Brightfeet Lighted Slippers from BunnySlippers.com-Giveaway

September 17, 2012 by Kathryn 167 Comments

There’s nothing I love more than a good pair of slippers. While I usually put my slippers away during the summer months, already the air is getting crisp and the mornings are getting chilly here in Saskatchewan. And that means it’s time to pull out my slippers once more and ensure that my toes are toasty in any weather.

brightfeet-lighted-slippers-navy-5-lgOur family has a pretty extensive collection of slippers: memory foam slippers, bunny slippers, slippers featuring Mater from Cars…but when BunnySlippers.com contacted me about reviewing its new Brightfeet Lighted Slippers, I couldn’t resist the chance to check them out. These unique slippers feature powerful LED lights embedded at the toes to make walking through a dark house a little safer. My husband has back issues that make slips or missteps a little more dangerous, so I decided to get the slippers for him. [Read more…]
