If you have a book lover to shop for and you want to give them a gift that they’re sure to love, you have got to check out Book By You! This original website offers personalized books for adults, teens and kids. I can’t think of a more fun and surprising gift than a full-length novel starring that special someone and their friends!
I spent some time on the website to see what the books were like and I noticed almost at once that the site offered classic novels as one of its categories. I browsed through the available titles and was thrilled to see that I could star in so many of my favourite books, from Alice in Wonderland to Dracula. I decided to create a preview to see how the process worked.
I chose Robin Hood to create my preview and I was very impressed by how quick and easy the personalization process way. I simply entered the names I wanted to use along with some other details like hair and eye colour and then submitted the details to create my preview. It was so much fun to see how the story read when I was one of the main characters!
The full personalization process is even more specific and includes up to 26 unique characteristics of your choosing. You can even include a favourite pet in some stories!
Book By You novels are available in a variety of genres, from romance to mystery to fantasy, but my personal favourite category was definitely the classic books. I’m so excited to create a personalized novel for myself; I’m going to surprise my husband with one about him to see if it motivates him to do some reading!

I would personalize a mystery one like Sherlock Holmes (my hsubands favourite).
What a neat idea!
I would choose The Secret Garden. It was one of my favorite books when I was younger.

The Adventures of
Sherlock Holmes
Well, I can’t actually get onto the website. All I get are error messages no matter how hard I try, but I would choose something for my 14 year old son
Oh no, Andrea! I just tried the link and it’s working fine for me, but thanks for the heads-up that the site might not work with all computers! Good choice; there are lots of good boy’s titles. I’m REALLY tempted to get Treasure Island for my son, actually!
I am able to get in today. Maybe a site problem last night? I have a 6 month old Mac so I don’t think it could be that…anyways, now that I can see the wonderful choices, I would probably pick Dracula as it would be a gift for my 14 year old. These are really amazing, What a great way to make reading even more fun!
Must have been a site issue then! :) That would be an amazing gift for a 14-year-old; I’m so torn about whether I should get one for my son or my hubby! Decisions, decisions!
My husband isn’t a reader. Not even to our little ones (almost 2, 3yrs, and 4.5yrs). My 17 year old isn’t a reader either and I don’t think he would appreciate something like this. I am seriously considering getting one of these for my 14 year old. Or two. I think this is something that he could really enjoy. :D
I think I’d get “Song Quest” for my daughter.
Alice in Wonderland for me
TREASURE ISLAND would be fun.
