I have to admit that I have a love of speed when I drive and even though I control my urge to race down the road, I can’t help but fall in love with a vehicle that has a lot of zip. So when Ford Canada recently gave me the chance to test drive the 2015 Ford Fiesta ST, it was love at first sight. The ST model of this little hatchback comes in standard only and boasts 197 horsepower, aluminum interior detailing and an ST-unique suspension. It’s virtually impossible not to have fun behind the wheel of this vehicle.
It had been years since I’d last driven a standard vehicle and I have to admit that I’d forgotten how much fun it was, especially in a sporty little car like this one. The Fiesta is built very compact, which means that it’s great on gas and perfect as a commuter car. Even so, it had a surprisingly roomy back hatch that could easily have held all the groceries from one of our family’s monthly stocking-up grocery trips.
Because of the compact size, some of the standard Ford controls I’ve come to expect were also moved to different places. I initially thought that the 2015 Ford Fiesta ST hadn’t been given Ford’s customary voice control system that allows for hands-free navigation and management of the car’s entertainment and climate systems. I later realized that instead of the larger switch on the side of the steering wheel I saw in most Fords, the voice activation was controlled by a small push button on the steering wheel instead.
Boasting all the luxurious features that I’ve come to expect from Ford vehicles, the Fiesta ST was a pleasure to drive and for our small family it was still roomy enough to hold us all comfortably. But the real appeal of this car is absolutely its power and maneuverability on the road. I took it out on one of the many gravel roads around my small hometown and even driving on the unstable surface it handled like a dream.
The youthful look of this car and its smaller size make it great for a second family vehicle or for a college student or single driver. It looks great, it’s fun to drive and it definitely stands out in a crowd. Check it out and see if this powerful little car is a perfect fit for you!
