The sun is shining, the snow is gone and warm breezes are blowing…there’s not much doubt about it; spring is finally here! And while I wish that meant nothing more than outdoor fun and games, it also means it’s time to get my house organized!
This year, HP Canada helped me tackle the goal of home organization with a new HP Stream 11 laptop and printer supplies for my HP Envy 5530 printer so that I could organize my home in style!
Because I love to cook, my kitchen tends to get quite disorganized throughout the year, so I decided to get my shelves organized by moving some of my most-used foods from their ineffective plastic packages to matched mason jars and then attaching stylish labels printed on my HP Envy printer! I grabbed bags of oat bran, cornmeal, granola, brown rice and more and got to work!
I visited the Print at Home section of Snapfish, an online portal full of fun printable projects, and decided the fresh spring colours of the Sweet Stripes labels were perfect for me.
I downloaded the template to my computer and then used the “Fill and Sign” feature on my Adobe PDF reader to add the text to each label. Within minutes I was ready to print my labels and attach them to the jars!
Since I didn’t have sticker paper for the printer, I just printed the labels on regular paper and then used glue dots to attach the labels to the jars. While sticker paper might have made the job a little quicker, removal will actually be far simpler with the glue dots, which means I can update the jars with new contents easily.
The jars looked so attractive lined up on my kitchen shelves, and were far more functional than my previous mess of bags and boxes piled into the space. And seeing those bright and cheerful labels put a smile on my face every time I open the cupboard door!
Stay tuned for another fun DIY home organization project featuring the HP Stream 11 laptop and the HP Envy 5530 printer coming soon. And there may just be a giveaway in store for my readers as well!
But in the meantime, visit the HP Create blog and plan your own home organization with help from HP! From cute drawer pulls to original wall art, there’s nothing you can’t create with a little creativity!
the jars look helpful
the points system is really smart
Loving the labels!
this is a really cool idea!
Wow you did such a great job! I’ve got some organizing to do!
Those labels that you made look really good, quite professional in fact. I think perhaps I should do something like that it certainly looks much tidier than my method of ripping off the product name from the package and sticking that in the jar. :-)
This is so helpful! Thank you!
This is something we need to do!!!
This post is very helpful…thank you. I really need to get my cupboards organized.
