I’ve mentioned before how breakfast has always been a struggle for me. Even before I had children, I tended to skip the all-important morning meal and after I became a parent, the problem got even worse. I’ve been working hard to change that this year and recently Weetabix challenged me to take my new healthy habit a step further by eating Weetabix cereal every day for a week.
Now it just so happens that Weetabix was one of my very favourite cereals as a child. (I know, I know. I was a little odd.) Having not eaten the cereal in years, I was curious to see if I would still enjoy it as much as I once had. So with the help of two boxes of Weetabix and a grocery gift card to purchase fun toppings for the crunchy biscuits, I decided to take on the #MyBixMix challenge!
I had my first bowl of Weetabix with nothing but milk and it was just as good as I had remembered. The crunchy biscuits crumble apart once milk is added and have a great hearty texture that I love. And with only four simple non-GMO ingredients and only 2g of sugar per serving, it’s a breakfast that I can feel good about eating too!
Over the next few days, I topped my Weetabix with raspberries, strawberries, golden syrup, bananas and more! My personal favourite was the fresh raspberries; their tanginess was a great compliment to the crunchy cereal. My boys even got in on the fun and tried Weetabix with golden syrup. Needless to say, they approved!
But what I liked most about taking the Weetabix #MyBixMix Challenge was how much more energy I had after a few days. I think the high fibre of the cereal played a bit part in that since it kept me full longer and helped me avoid a mid-morning crash. And since getting enough fibre is something that I often find difficult in an average day, starting my morning with a high fibre cereal just makes sense!

I loved Weetabix as a child too! My grandma ate them almost everyday. If you were in for a hard day, she would always say “I hope you had your Weetabix this morning:. ;)

I like Weetabix with milk and banana. It is one of the cereal I buy often.
I lived off of Weetabix during my pregnancy. It was just so satisfying for the mornings and afternoon snacks….

I bought a box of Weetabix the other day after seeing your photos of them – it would be great with a simple nut butter spread I think :)
