SkinFix Body Repair Paste-Review and Giveaway

October 26, 2011 by Kathryn 55 Comments

If you’ve ever read a biology textbook or watched an episode of Jeopardy, you may already know that the largest organ of the human body is the skin. And skin, since it is so large and exposed to so much, can cause tons of problems. From acne to eczema to allergies, there are so many different irritants that can contribute to problem skin.

skinfix body repair pasteSkinFix knows how many potential hazards the skin faces every day and the company’s incredible Body Repair Pastes have been helping to treat and prevent all kinds of skin irritations since the paste’s secret recipe was first brought to Canada from England by the grandmother of the company’s founder. My first experience with the products was when I received a sample of the company’s incredible Diaper Rash Paste from a friend. I was blown away by how effectively it treated even the worst diaper rash; within hours of application my son’s skin would be looking better! So when I got the chance to review the company’s original Body Repair Paste, I was thrilled.

SkinFix Body Repair Paste has been said to be effective at treating virtually any skin condition or irritation. I was so excited to test it out for myself. My big skin issue is acne. I get breakouts at random times throughout the month and nothing seems to make them better. Even when I find a cream or lotion that works for a while, I’ll usually find that after my skin gets used to it, it starts to break out once more.

Since I didn’t want to be putting the SkinFix Body Repair Paste on my healthy, unblemished skin, I decided to try using it as a spot-treatment for my acne to see how it worked. I put it on lightly in the morning and blended it so that it wouldn’t be visible on my skin. Then, before bed, I dabbed a bit more onto my blemishes and let it sit a little more thickly overnight. Within one day of treatment, my smaller blemishes were gone and my larger ones were both less swollen and less red!

I was so impressed by how well the SkinFix Body Repair Paste worked on my acne, but I shouldn’t have been surprised; I saw the same kind of amazing results with the SkinFix Diaper Rash Paste. Even when my youngest son developed a blistered yeast-based diaper rash, two applications of SkinFix took care of the problem.

skinfix diaper rash pasteI use SkinFix Body Repair Paste on almost every skin condition imaginable these days. It’s wonderful for clearing up that occasional moisture rash that babies get on their faces. I adore using it on my oldest son’s dry elbows and knees. And I really can’t wait until my four-year-old niece comes to visit so that I can see how it works on her occasional eczema breakouts. But for me personally, the best feature of SkinFix Body Repair Paste is how well it works on my acne.

If you have a skin condition that’s been bothering you and you’re not sure what else to try, you owe it to yourself to try SkinFix Body Repair Paste. No matter what the skin ailment, the chances are good that SkinFix can fix the problem. Try it out for yourself and see why this old family recipe has become a trusted household name for families across Canada!

Sprout Botanicals Baby Skincare-Review and Giveaway

June 30, 2011 by Kathryn 275 Comments

When I’m choosing skincare products for my kids, natural is pretty much my only choice. Whether I want a gentle body wash, a soothing balm or a luxurious lotion, if the formula isn’t a natural one, I generally don’t consider it. And of course, being a proud Canadian mother, I am even happier when I can find natural products that are made right here in Canada.

sprout botanicals outdoor spraySprout Botanicals offers all that and more. Founder and licensed Naturopathic Doctor Aileen Lim-Trotter created the first Sprout Botanicals products when her patients expressed a desire for natural skincare options for their families. The products were such a huge success with parents that the brand quickly expanded out of the office and across Canada. I was very excited when I was given a chance to test out three of the company’s most popular products.

I received the Soothing Balm, the Gentle Calendula Soap with Steel Cut Oats and the All-Natural Outdoor Spray to review. The Outdoor Spray, which is a completely natural bug repellent, was definitely the product I was most excited to try. I’d been looking for a DEET-free bug repellent to use on myself and my children and I couldn’t wait to see if the lavender water-based Sprout Botanicals All-Natural Outdoor Spray was effective against Saskatchewan’s droves of mosquitoes and black flies.

The first chance I had to use the spray happened to be at Zackary’s birthday party so the product had a very thorough review. In addition to my children, at least five of the boys at Zackary’s party and three of the parents tested out the spray as well! I immediately had questions from the parents at the party asking me where the spray could be purchased; everyone was blown away by the natural formula, the incredible smell and the effectiveness of the spray.

sprout botanicals soothing balmI did find that the repellant didn’t last as long as a commercial bug spray. After an hour or two, reapplying the spray was essential to make sure that my kids stayed protected. But if I have to choose between using a repellant with harmful chemical additives that I only have to apply once or using a natural bug repellent that I have to reapply a few times, I’ll choose Sprout Botanicals All-Natural Outdoor Spray every time!

The Soothing Balm was the next product I tried. I have one or two other diaper rash balms that I am very loyal to, but the Sprout Botanicals Soothing Balm quickly proved to be their equal. Like my other favourite balm, this balm didn’t just heal and soothe diaper rash, but also relieved the pain of scratches, bug bites, sunburn and other minor injuries. My twenty-month-old son is picky about his “bom,” but his Sprout Botanicals Soothing Balm is one that he is always happy to use. And since it is sunflower-oil based, it’s cloth-diaper friendly!

sprout botanicals gentle calendula soapThe final product I tested was the Gentle Calendula Soap With Steel Cut Oats. This incredibly mild soap was designed to be an effective bar soap for absolutely anyone and was specially formulated for sensitive baby skin or people with skin allergies. I used the soap for my family’s everyday washing and it really did an amazing job of gently cleansing my family’s skin. There are very few bar soaps that don’t leave skin feeling tight and dry afterwards since almost all bar soaps use lye as an active ingredient. The Gentle Calendula Soap cleaned our skin so effectively and I didn’t notice one bit of dryness after using it! I have a niece that had terrible problems with eczema in the past and after seeing how gentle this soap was I will definitely be recommending it to my sister as a safe choice to cleanse without irritating.

There is no doubt in my mind that a great deal of love and caring went into the creation of the Sprout Botanicals line and the results the products give really speak for themselves. With formulas that are gentle enough for a newborn baby and effective enough for the toughest conditions, Sprout Botanicals products are a sensational way to ensure that your baby’s skin is cleansed, nourished and protected completely naturally. Check out the products for yourself and discover how much power nature has to offer!
