While a little bit of scruffiness can look good on a man, for the most part I prefer a clean-shaven look. It’s smooth, appealing and makes for much more enjoyable moments of kissing and cuddling. But when cold winter weather makes skin dry and the busy Christmas season has the whole family running from one place to another, getting that great shave women love can be more challenging for a man. That’s why BIC has some handy tips on how to get a close, smooth shave any time. [Read more…]
While some men may think of summer as a time to relax and let their look get a little scruffier than usual, the truth is, according to a recent study commissioned by BIC Flex 4 disposable razors, that most men still prefer the clean-shaven, well-groomed look even in the heat of the summer. In fact, 93% of men shave the same or more often during summer as in other months. BIC understands how important a smooth, clean shave is to Canadian men and that’s why the company prides itself on providing top-of-the-line disposable razors like the BIC Flex 4, which features four blades, a pivoting head and a large, ergonomic handle.
Recently, my husband received a package of BIC Flex 4 razors to test out for himself. Like most Canadian men, he prefers a smooth, clean-shaven look even in the summer and the wonderful thing about BIC Flex 4 razors is that since they’re disposable, they’re perfect for taking along on a summer vacation.
My husband actually has quite sensitive skin, so having a razor that provides good moisturizing is very important to him. He loved the large lubricating strip of the BIC Flex 4 because it let the razor glide smoothly over his skin to minimize irritation. He also liked the independent spring-mounted blades, which made shaving awkward areas like his chin without nicking himself easier.
To help men across Canada enjoy that clean, well-groomed look, BIC has some tips to help ensure a smooth, close shave: [Read more…]
With two fussy little boys to care for, I don’t get to shower more than once a week or so and even when I do, I’m usually on a time limit. So when it comes to shaving my legs, I need a razor that is high-quality enough to give me super smooth legs in a short amount of time.
But even with that being said, I don’t want to have to pay an absurd amount for the razor that gives me that nice smooth shave. I can’t help but look at a twenty-dollar package of razor blades and think about all the groceries that I could buy for the same amount!
BIC Soleil has the answer with premium disposable razors that give women the gorgeous legs they’ve been dreaming of without emptying their purses at the same time. I recently got the chance to review a package of BIC Soleil Bella razors for myself and I was eager to see if they could withstand my rushed routine.
The first thing I noticed about these razors was their nice thick handles with rubber grips. The handle of a razor can get pretty slick in the shower and I’m usually not taking my time and being careful when I shave my legs. The handle was easy to hold even in the shower and I didn’t have to worry about the razor slipping.
The pivoting head gave me a nice smooth shave and I really loved the EZ Rinse blades. They really did rinse very easily and minimized the time it took me to shave!
The blades didn’t glide quite as smoothly over my knees and ankles as my previous razor, but a little extra moisture in the form of some shave gel worked wonders for getting a smooth shave even on hard-to-shave areas like my knees. Overall, the razor provided me with effective smoothness that was almost identical to what I achieved with my previous razor, at a fraction of the cost.
If you want to show off your beautifully smooth legs at their very best, why not take a few minutes a day to perform these easy toning exercises from fitness instructor Eva Redpath:
1) Sautes – What it targets: Glutes, quads, inner thighs, calves, core
Exercise: Standing with heels together, toes turned out (dance 1st position) and hands on your waist. Bend knees, and jump both feet diagonally forward, landing wider then hip distance apart, knees at 90-degree angles facing the same directions as the toes, and in line with the ankles (dance 2nd position). Reach hands down, and touch fingertips to the floor. Bend knees and jump back to starting position.
Reps: Repeat 16 times
2) Plies – What it targets: Inner thighs, quads, glutes
Exercise: Stand with feet wider than hip distance apart, toes pointing outward, hands on hips. Bend legs into the depth of the plie so that your quad, knee and shins form a 90-degree angle. Make sure the knees stay over the ankles. Hold for three counts and slowly stretch to standing for one count.
Reps: Repeat 16 times
3) Rises – What it targets: Calves, balance, core stability
Exercise: Stand with your feet shoulder width apart, feet slightly turned out, placing your hands on the hips for balance. Raise your body onto the balls of your feet. Hold and slowly lower down making sure to keep ankles inline with your arches when pressing onto the ball of foot.
Reps: Repeat 16 times

Am I the only one that thinks the humble razor has become a little bit absurd? I love it when my husband has a smooth, freshly shaved face, but really, what difference does it make whether or not the razor has a patented “cool strip” or not? And what exactly is a vibrating razor supposed to do?
All of the bells and whistles look and sound cool, but what they really add up to is unbelievably overpriced blades. And because, like so many other families, we hate to waste money, my husband usually ends up using one blade for much longer than he should in a desperate attempt to avoid purchasing more. End result? He usually misses out on that great super-close shave anyways!
Thankfully, BIC, the original creator of the disposable razor, has stepped up to say, “No more!” The company believes that shaving should be affordable, without compromising on the quality of the shave itself. Recently, we were given the chance to review a package of the company’s brand new Flex 4 razors and both my husband and I were eager to see if the reasonably priced razors would still provide a great shave.
BIC Flex 4 razors feature four independent spring-mounted blades that distribute and absorb pressure for an ultra soft shave. The razors have a sleek and modern look that is just as attractive as any other razor I have seen and with a large lubricating strip containing aloe vera and vitamin E and a pivoting head to follow the contours of the face, getting a close shave is a breeze. The razors even have an amazing ergonomically designed handle to ensure easy handling!
My husband has a sensational shaving kit containing shave oil, shave gel and aftershave balm, so he carefully applied the shave oil and gel to his face before testing out the new razor. For the closest shave, making sure the skin is supple is incredibly important and the oil and gel worked together to do just that. After my husband was done shaving, he came over to let me check out the results. His skin was as smooth as if he had shaved with a brand new expensive blade and he said that the razor was as easy to use as his regular razor.
The BIC Flex 4 gave my husband a shave that was just as good as his usual shave. The difference between the two razors wasn’t visible on his face, but it was in his pocket! A package of three BIC Flex 4 razors retails for approximately $5.99, as opposed to almost $22 for a package containing four blades for his usual razor. With savings like that, why would anyone want to spend more?
My husband loves the BIC Flex 4 razors and since he doesn’t have to feel guilty about using a new one, his skin is actually smoother more often than it was when he was using his old razor. If the man in your life is convinced that a fancy razor with high-priced blades is the only way to get a great shave, challenge him to give the BIC Flex 4 razors a try. He has nothing to lose but the hefty price tag!
