Holiday Gift for Children 6 Years and Older
Parents everywhere know that kids and glow-in-the-dark toys go together like peanut butter and jelly. With Christmas quickly approaching, finding the coolest new toy for under the tree is a high priority. And this year, the incredible Glow Crazy kits from Kroeger Inc. are sure to be a favorite choice for any child.
Glow Crazy’s products combine an innovative Lightwand with a special Glow Cling glow-in-the-dark reusable canvas to create an amazing, mess-free artistic surface that will be sure to delight any child. I was thrilled when I was given a chance to review one of the Glow Crazy kits for myself.
I received the Distance Doodler kit to review. This kit contains one Glow Crazy Lightwand, two Glow Clings and four stencils.
The Lightwand directs a beam of light from as far away as ten feet and the Glow Cling absorbs the light to leave a glowing line on the surface so that children can doodle to their heart’s content with no mess and an incredibly cool glowing effect.
The Lightwand uses four AAA batteries, which are not included. Fortunately, with two boys and a house full of toys and gadgets, we have a huge supply of rechargeable batteries on hand.
My husband charged up the required batteries and put them into the Lightwand. Meanwhile, I found a place for the Glow Cling and peeled it off the protective backing for the application process.
The Glow Clings are designed to cling to any smooth surface, from walls to windows to ceilings. They are not recommended for wallpaper, but there was a blank painted wall in Benjamin’s room that I knew would be perfect for the cling.
I applied the cling carefully to the wall and handed Zackary the Lightwand. I loved that the tool had two settings, one that beamed a thin stream of light suitable for doodling and one that acted as an eraser or a quick stencil filler by creating a wide circle of light.
Zackary had a great time scribbling with the wand and even his dad got in on the action and doodled Zackary’s name across the top of the cling.
The box stated that the doodles would glow for several minutes before they faded. Initially, I didn’t find that the writing lasted quite that long; after about a minute I couldn’t see the doodles anymore.
But I soon learned that when using the Lightwand, slower is better. When I used more of a slow-motion style of doodling instead of a quick scribbling motion, the doodles easily lasted for three minutes!
I also tried using the Lightwand from across the room to see if the light would still show up on the cling. Sure enough, the Lightwand still worked wonderfully even from the other side of the bedroom!
Glow Crazy carries a great collection of products to please every child. I love the concept of the Glow Dome, a small tent that features walls suitable for Light Wand doodling. I’m also intrigued by the Glow To Go, a portable light doodling kit suitable for taking on the road.
While children may have a wide range of interests, there are some toys that bypass gender and age to ensure the perfect gift. Zackary loves to doodle with his Glow Crazy Distance Doodler set, and honestly, I do too!
It’s the perfect clean and creative way to create a masterpiece in minutes. For a fun and original gift that will entertain the entire family, check out the amazing products from Glow Crazy for yourself. You’ll love that drawing in the dark can be so much fun!
