Yo Gabba Gabba: Let’s Visit the Doctor! DVD-Review and Giveaway

yo gabba gabba lets visit the doctor cover shotI love the fact that so many great children’s shows are available in convenient DVD collections. My son, like most four-year-olds, will watch almost anything animated fairly contentedly, but he does have a few notable favourites. For the longest time, one of his treasured shows was Yo Gabba Gabba, so I was thrilled when I was able to review the program’s newest DVD collection, Yo Gabba Gabba: Let’s Visit the Doctor! Here’s a brief synopsis:

Yo Gabba Gabba: Let’s Visit the Doctor! delivers a dose of episodes to help pre-schoolers deal with the all too common sniffles. When Todee becomes sick, the Doctor gives her a check-up and her Gabba Land friends gather around with chicken soup, warm blankets and fairytale stories! When Todee feels better, it’s back to playtime and snacks with her Gabba Land friends!

The DVD contains four episodes that cover common health and safety topics like hygiene and oral care. Zackary’s personal favourite of the four episodes was Car. When DJ Lance Rock gives the Gabba Land friends a car to drive, they have a blast using it to travel, but they also learn important lessons about buckling up and car safety. I appreciated the fact that the show was enforcing some basic safety rules, but I knew it was the car that really appealed to Zackary in this episode!

The combination of bright colours, simple dialogue and music was incredibly appealing to his young mind, and as soon as the characters started to sing, he would drop whatever he was doing and hop to his feet to dance along with the music!

The characters in Yo Gabba Gabba are so imaginative, and while I must admit that I find the entire show a little wacky, both of my children fully enjoy it. I would say that it is a better choice for younger children; at four-and-a-half, Zackary isn’t as enraptured with the show as he once was, though he still watches it happily. But any preschool-aged child will be sure to enjoy the adventures of DJ Lance Rock and his Gabba Land friends. For a fun and creative DVD choice that delivers important health lessons with kid-friendly music and characters, check out Yo Gabba Gabba: Let’s Visit the Doctor! for yourself!

  1. I haven’t seen the program myself. But it sounds like a program that the younger children would really enjoy!

  2. We are HUGE Gabba fans at our house. This past 2010 we were lucky enough to see the Yo Gabba Gabba Live 2 times. The second show we got to meet DJ Lance Rock, Kemba, Leslie, Muno, Toodee, Foofa, Plex, and Brobee!!! I do have 3 boys, 14, 8, and 2 however even if I didn’t, I’d still LOVE the show. Mark who draws on the show is a member of Devo..and they have all different kinds of music incorporated into the show to help teach life lessons. I think sometimes ADULTS need to listen to the messages. We think it’s very much like a modern day Sesame Street.
