Yo Gabba Gabba: Circus DVD-Review

The first time I saw Yo Gabba Gabba! I thought it was the most bizarre children’s show ever created. But over the past six months or so I have gradually come around and these days, I am a convert. This wacky and imaginative show really grew on me and I now enjoy watching it as much as my boys. Recently, we got the chance to review the newest DVD collection of the award-winning program, Yo Gabba Gabba: Circus. Here’s a brief synopsis:

yo gabba gabba circus coverThe circus is coming to town with the all-new DVD release, Yo Gabba Gabba: Circus. Muno, Foofa, Brobee, Toodee and Plex star in four awesome episodes including one never-before-seen. Don’t miss the chance to sing and dance under the big top, ride in a hot air balloon, search Gabbaland for treasure and more. Special guests featured in these episodes include Weird Al Yankovic, Sarah Silverman and Fred Armisen. Created by Nickelodeon Home Entertainment and distributed by Paramount Home Entertainment, Yo Gabba Gabba: Circus will be released on June 14, 2011, and sold for the suggested retail price of $16.99.

Fun and games is the common theme in these episodes, from learning circus tricks to hunting for treasure to flying! There are all kinds of ways to have fun and nobody is better at discovering them than the loveable monsters of Gabba Land. I really liked watching the different adventures Muno and his friends enjoyed as well as the positive and uplifting lessons they learned along the way.

While I enjoy the fun-filled plots and the life lessons that are emphasized in every episode, the real appeal of this show for both me and my boys is the music, and Yo Gabba Gabba: Circus was no exception. The songs are always so dance-along addictive and the accompanying videos always seem to get Zackary and Benjamin laughing.

My personal favourite episode was Treasure, both because I love the entire concept of going on a treasure hunt (something that I absolutely adored as a child) and because I really liked the way the episode emphasized that a treasure isn’t necessarily material wealth, but is something that is cherished by a person and thus, can be different for everybody.

Zackary, Benjamin and I all enjoyed Yo Gabba Gabba: Circus and I loved seeing which special guest would appear on each episode. When the title episode featured Weird Al Yankovic, I knew right away I was in for a great time! If you have toddlers or preschoolers in the house, there is a pretty good chance that they are already fans of the show. So why not get ready for summer fun by watching the Yo Gabba Gabba! friends have some fun of their own?
