For the second year in a row Mommy Kat and Kids is participating in The Great Canadian Blog Bash! I love this chance to meet new Canadian bloggers and reconnect with some of my best bloggy friends right before Canada Day!
If you’re a newcomer to my site, welcome! My name is Kathryn and I am the energetic and cheerful owner, editor and head writer here at Mommy Kat and Kids.
I was born and raised in a small town on the Saskatchewan prairies and while life in a small town has its ups and downs, overall Lumsden is a pretty wonderful place to live.
Of course, the gorgeous scenery we have down here in the Qu’Appelle Valley doesn’t hurt either!
Did you know that Saskatchewan was once a part of the Northwest Territories? And it was originally settled when the Queen offered free land to anyone that would come and farm on the prairies.
People came from all over Europe, the United States and other parts of Canada to claim their “free land” and Saskatchewan has a very diverse ethnic background as a result.
Saskatchewan is also a province of viciously cold winters and absurdly hot summers and I sometimes think back on the first founders of my province with pride because to live here, a person would have to either be impossibly stubborn or a little bit crazy. And both of those probably describe me pretty well!
Thanks so much for stopping by!

The southeastern corner of BC used to be known for having the most hours of sunshine in the province (you’d never know that these days since it’s been rainy and wet all Spring and Summer so far this year!)
The provincial mammal is the Spirit Bear-which is a black bear that has white fur due to a rare genetic trait.
Oops…forgot to add.. my home province is BC!
Norwex is on a mission to improve quality of life by radically reducing the use of chemicals in personal care and cleaning.
New Brunswick has a famous whirlpool, the Old Sow Whirlpool, located in the Passamaquoddy Bay towards the mouth of the Bay of Fundy. Measuring up to as 76 meters (250 feet) in diameter, Old Sow is the largest whirlpool in the western hemisphere, and the second largest in the world!
Fun Dact: Norwex “clean without chemicals” was birthed in Norway in 1994, soon after microfiber was first manufactured in Sweden.
I live in Hamilton Ontario. We are the waterfall capital of the world with over 126 waterfalls.
Ontario demands no reporting of homeschool families. We get no government money, and in return we do not have to follow provincial guidelines or satisfy government bureaucrats with mindless copywork and tests.
I really like the sounds of the olive oil salt scrub!
Wayne Gretzky was born in Ontario
I would love to have the mop. I love the window cleaning cloths, but need to hide them from husband who will use them with cleaners or throw them in the laundry which means I am the only one to use them.
