It’s Time to Party, Canada! #TGCBB 2012

For the second year in a row Mommy Kat and Kids is participating in The Great Canadian Blog Bash! I love this chance to meet new Canadian bloggers and reconnect with some of my best bloggy friends right before Canada Day!

tgcbb 2012

If you’re a newcomer to my site, welcome! My name is Kathryn and I am the energetic and cheerful owner, editor and head writer here at Mommy Kat and Kids.

I was born and raised in a small town on the Saskatchewan prairies and while life in a small town has its ups and downs, overall Lumsden is a pretty wonderful place to live.

Of course, the gorgeous scenery we have down here in the Qu’Appelle Valley doesn’t hurt either!

Did you know that Saskatchewan was once a part of the Northwest Territories? And it was originally settled when the Queen offered free land to anyone that would come and farm on the prairies.

People came from all over Europe, the United States and other parts of Canada to claim their “free land” and Saskatchewan has a very diverse ethnic background as a result.

Saskatchewan is also a province of viciously cold winters and absurdly hot summers and I sometimes think back on the first founders of my province with pride because to live here, a person would have to either be impossibly stubborn or a little bit crazy. And both of those probably describe me pretty well!

Thanks so much for stopping by!

  1. Ontario is great! So many beaches, so close to us, we house the Nation’s Capital, and we have Niagara Falls! How great is that!!!

i AM FROM BC and the coolest fun thing is
The first report of Ogopogo, the Sea Serpent of Okanagan Lake, was in 1872, pre-dating recorded sightings of the Loch Ness Monster by more than 60 years. He was known as N’HA-A-ITK or ‘Lake Demon’ to the Okanagan First Nations people who drew him on pictographs and made sacrafices to him.

  3. My home province is home to the “Horsehoe Falls” that people seem to refer to as “Niagara Falls” lol

  4. I learned and liked that microfiber cloths are environmentally friendly. I learned they may reduce the consumption of cleaning chemicals in your home up to 90% while at the same time reducing your exposure to toxic fumes

  5. an interesting fact about alberta is if you live in the city of lloydminster, you may not be an albertan as the the city is half in alberta and half in saskatchewan.
