Disney’s Wreck-It Ralph Ultimate Collector’s Edition Blu-ray Set Available Today-Giveaway

Disney’s Wreck-It Ralph is finally available today on Blu-ray and DVD and my boys couldn’t be happier! In fact, I’ve been eagerly awaiting the chance to check out this movie for myself after hearing it being heralded as one of the most original and entertaining movies in years. Here’s a brief synopsis:

wreck-it ralph blu-ray march 5 2013For decades, Ralph has played the bad guy in his popular video game. In a bold move, he embarks on an action-packed adventure and sets out to prove to everyone that he is a true hero with a big heart. As he explores exciting new worlds, he teams up with some unlikely new friends including feisty misfit Vanellope von Schweetz. Then, when an evil enemy threatens their world, Ralph realizes he holds the fate of the entire arcade in his massive hands.

It was obvious even from the previews that this would be a movie more for school-aged children but Benjamin is pretty good about sitting down and watching movies with Zackary and me even when they’re a bit over his head. And after the first fifteen minutes, it was obvious that Zackary and I were both going to be big fans of this movie. With tons of references to video games that we all love, it was the perfect choice for a game-loving family.

Zackary loved seeing favourite characters including Sonic the Hedgehog and Bowser from Super Mario Bros. And I loved the references and jokes about some of the classic video games I played when I was a child. Zackary and Benjamin actually caught some of those references too thanks to the classic gaming systems in our basement game room.

If you’ve been longing to bring home Wreck-It Ralph, you’re in luck! Walt Disney Studios Canada is very generously offering one lucky Mommy Kat and Kids reader their own Wreck-It Ralph Ultimate Collector’s Edition 4-Disc Blu-ray Set worth $33! To enter to win, just leave a blog comment about whether or not you’ve seen Wreck-It Ralph.

There is some mild violence in this movie and a fair bit of crude humour that my oldest son loved and I could have done without. But underneath the colourful flashiness was a great message about being yourself and challenging the status quo that I really appreciated. If you have school-aged children, this movie is a great way to spend a relaxing afternoon together as a family. So bring home Wreck-It Ralph today and enjoy plenty of Disney style entertainment and a bit of reminiscing too!

  1. I haven’t seen it yet, but I really really want to… my husband is a video game designer, and both of us are huge gamers, so I think we’ll really get a kick out of it.

  2. Sort of. We tried to watch it with my nephews (7 and 5) and niece (2.5) and my 3 kids (5, 2.5 and 8 mo). I missed a lot of it. My oldest nephew kept telling me what was going to happen next. I enjoyed what I saw of it though and I am looking forward to watching it again.
