Life of Pi on Blu-ray and DVD will Take You on the Journey of a Lifetime

When a movie features just two characters, the success of that movie depends a great deal on those two. Life of Pi proved just how captivating its characters were after earning four Academy Awards and eleven nominations, which is all the more amazing considering one of the two main characters is a computer-generated tiger. The film was recently released on Blu-ray and DVD; here’s a brief synopsis:

life of pi box artEmbark on the adventure of a lifetime in this visual masterpiece from Oscar Winner Ang Lee, based on the best-selling novel. After a cataclysmic shipwreck, young Pi Patel finds himself stranded on a lifeboat with only one other survivor – a ferocious Bengal tiger named Richard Parker. Bound by the need to survive, the two are cast on an epic journey that must be seen to be believed.

I had heard a lot about Life of Pi and I was excited to see what all the buzz was about. I was quickly caught up in the story. This movie is appealing on a few different levels. The graphics are absolutely gorgeous, which makes the film enjoyable to watch just for the beauty of the scenes. But the characters themselves are just as captivating and really carry the story forward as nothing else could. The relationship between Pi and the Bengal tiger is the driving force that takes one beyond all the special effects, which truly are breathtaking.

This is a rich and dramatic story at its finest and one with a message about faith and the importance of hope that will stay in your mind long after the movie has ended. Life of Pi is available now on Blu-ray and DVD, so check it out for yourself and see why it’s the movie everyone’s talking about.

  1. I haven’t seen the movie but it sounds enchanting and I would love to share it with two special little kids.

  2. Oh! I just adored this movie!

Life of Pi is one of my all time favorite books. I am pretty sure I have read it at least 30 times – and never grow bored of it :-)

When I heard they were turning it into a movie, I was really unsure of WHAT that would be like.. because of the plot it had potential to be very corny or cartoony.. the producers though managed to go above and beyond anything I expected!

    SO well done!

    1. That totally makes me excited to read the book, Soozle! I actually heard someone say that it was one of the best book-to-movie adaptations they’d ever seen, and that NEVER happens, so I’m doubly excited to read the book and see for myself! :)
