Get Kids Rocking with Joanie Leeds and the Nightlights’ New CD Bandwagon-Giveaway

The energy and positive attitude of children’s musician Joanie Leeds are partly the reason that her CD What a Zoo is one of my boys’ absolute favourites. Now, Joanie Leeds and the Nightlights are back with a brand new, fun-filled CD that kids will love: Bandwagon! This new CD features fifteen tracks of fun-filled songs packed with kid-friendly lyrics in a variety of musical styles. But what really makes every song stand out is Joanie’s trademark mellow voice.

Of course, the other thing that I noticed, just as I had with What a Zoo, is that I enjoyed listening to the CD just as much as if it had been one of my own adult music choices.

And my boys felt the same way. While Zackary and Benjamin generally preferred upbeat songs like Bandwagon, the swinging and addictive title track and UFO, an upbeat rock song featuring aliens and a great sing-along chorus, they also appreciated some of the more mellow songs and Benjamin in particular absolutely adored Nightlights, a pop ballad that was perfect for a relaxing afternoon.

If you love finding CDs for your children that you can enjoy too, you’re in luck! Joanie Leeds and the Nightlights are very generously offering one lucky Mommy Kat and Kids reader a copy of their brand new CD, Bandwagon! To enter to win, just leave a blog comment about your child’s current favourite song or musician.

Bandwagon is a hit in our house and my boys have happily added it to their rotation of music selections. Check out the band’s website to listen to some of the songs on the CD, play fun games and learn more about Joanie Leeds and the Nightlights!

  1. We tend to not let our kids listen to much of the popular music right now. We enjoy listening to oldies with the kids, old rock. Tamer stuff. But at school, in gym, the teachers play all kinds of music, with many words we don’t usually approve of. So lately, my kids have been requesting Mariana’s Trench, who I love…but a few of the lyrics are not exactly what I want my child to be singing when we’re in the grocery store…eg…”open up and swallow on your knees, these desperate times call for desperate measures now.”

    1. Oh my gosh, Andie, I know exactly what you mean! I have slightly dark music tastes so I always wait until I can wear headphones or until the boys are in bed before I listen to MY music. But my son is in Grade One and he comes home singing and humming songs that I sure didn’t let him listen to! I remember when he was in Kindergarten and “Sexy and I Know It” came out. His four-year-old little girl best friend taught it to him and she’d sing, “I’ve got patches on my pants and I’m not afraid to show it!” So I just have to hope that the lyrics from songs at school all go right over their innocent heads like the lyrics of that song did!
