When I was at BlogHer13 in Chicago a few weeks ago, my sister took my oldest son and her oldest daughter to the movie theatre to check out one of the summer’s new animated features, Epic. The kids loved it and I heard stories about it for quite some time afterwards. Lucky for me, yesterday, August 20, 2013, the film was released on Blu-ray and DVD!
Now, to help you get ready for some Epic fun with your kids, 20th Century Fox has some fabulous activities and food ideas that are sure to provide plenty of enjoyment in the coming days. Kick off the party with a printable Epic Mad Libs activity or colouring page! Just click the images below to save, download and print the sheets for future fun.
Then, dig into some nutritious and delicious treats that will give your little Leafmen the energy they need to get through the day. These fun nature-inspired treats are sure-fire kid-pleasers!
Apple Sandwiches Make a sandwich without the bread! Remove the core from an apple and then slice it to make the ends of your sandwich. You can fill it with peanut butter and mix with granola or raisins. For an extra special treat put marshmallows or chocolate chips in the centre!
Butterfly Celery You can really get into the Epic sprit with this one! Celebrate nature with butterfly celery snacks. Fill your celery stalk with cream cheese or peanut butter then create wings and antenna with pretzels, and line the body with raisins or peanuts. These treats are not only fun to play with, but delicious and nutritious!
Banana Roll-Ups Spread some peanut butter on a wrap and then roll up a banana inside for a quick and easy sandwich on the go. You can add jelly into the mix or leave it simple and speedy. Either way, this is a healthy treat the kids are sure to enjoy!
After fuelling up and having some fun, it’s time for Epic entertainment and 20th Century Fox is here to help! The company is very generously offering one lucky Mommy Kat and Kids reader their very own copy of Epic on Blu-ray! To enter to win, just leave a blog comment about which of these fun snack ideas your child would most love.
With kids heading back to school in just a few weeks (and some in classes already), why not enjoy one last celebration with an end-of-summer Epic movie night? Healthy treats, fun activities and great entertainment will be sure to make family time extra fun!
