A Regular Routine with Johnson’s Bedtime Products Helps Babies Sleep Better

When my oldest son was born, I made plenty of typical “new mom” mistakes and one of the biggest ones was waiting for my baby to fall asleep each night instead of putting him to bed at a regular time. It meant that I was often sitting up rocking my little one until well after midnight only to have him waking up four hours later ready to start his day. Needless to say, I was exhausted.

I had a hard time believing that setting a regular bedtime for an infant of less than a year could make a difference, but within three days of adhering to a regular bedtime, I was a convert. The difference was phenomenal! My baby was falling asleep quickly and sleeping for longer periods of time. And finally I could get some rest too!

Even with a regular bedtime, however, both of my boys have had problems sleeping through the night. Johnson’s Bedtime Bath and Johnson’s Bedtime Lotion have been clinically proven to help babies fall asleep faster and sleep better at night and recently I had the chance to see if the products would help improve my boys’ sleep routine.

Johnson & Johnson recommends a three-step routine for preparing little ones for bed. First, baby gets a warm bath with Johnson’s Bedtime Bath. This lightly scented baby wash is hypoallergenic and dermatologist tested with the No More Tears formula that moms trust. After the bath, it’s time for a gentle, moisturizing massage with Johnson’s Bedtime Lotion featuring clinically proven mildness. Finally, a few minutes of quiet time let infants drift off to sleep. It’s a simple routine that helps relax moms and babies!

I tested the products on my energetic youngest son, who currently falls asleep quickly but tends to wake up at least once or twice in the middle of the night. I was excited to see if the Johnson’s Bedtime Bath and Johnson’s Bedtime Lotion would help my little one finally sleep until morning! Benjamin has quite sensitive skin, but despite the fact that these products have a stronger scent than those I generally choose, my son’s skin didn’t react to the products at all. One of the things I love about Johnson’s is that I can always be sure I’m using a gentle, dermatologist-tested product on my little ones.

After the first few days, Benjamin was noticeably calmer as we prepared for bedtime. I found that starting our routine at a consistent time was important to make the process effective for my son, so I ensured that we always started our bedtime preparations at the same time each night. Benjamin had been waking up about twice a night before we started using the Johnson’s Bedtime products and within a week of beginning the routine he was only waking up once!

I have to admit that the nightly routine had a positive impact on me as well. Cuddling with my youngest son enjoying the sweet, relaxing scent of the Johnson’s Bedtime products helped me let go of the day’s stress so that I could unwind. In fact, I sometimes wonder if my own reduced stress level is partially responsible for my son’s improved sleep! If your baby isn’t sleeping as well as you would like, why not give the Johnson’s Bedtime line a try? The gentle products will leave your baby clean, soft and ready for a good night’s sleep!

  1. I am a certified infant massage instructor and massaging your kids at night will help them fall asleep faster and have a deeper sleep. The routine will do wonders:)

  2. These products were a regular part of my bedtime routine for my children as babies. I have recently returned back to using them to calm my now school aged children. They love the scent!

I used the JOHNSON’S ® BEDTIME ® nightly routine when my son was little (right up until he was 3 actually!) and just loved it. He’s much too macho for it now (nearly 5) but I swear if I could get away with it, I’d still be using it. :)
