November at Disney Junior has Lessons from Sofia the First and a Chance to Fly with Peter Pan #DisneyJuniorMom

The weather is chilly and kids can’t play outside as much now that November has arrived, but Disney Junior has a month packed with fun to keep kids feeling warm, cozy and entertained! It kicks off with brand new episodes of Strawberry Shortcake every Sunday at 5:30 EST, featuring the adventures of the residents of Berry Bitty City and a brand new friend, Huckleberry Pie.

Then, on Sunday, November 10, Belle from Beauty and the Beast makes a special appearance on Sofia the First at 11:30 am EST! Sofia’s magical amulet bestows a curse upon her after she becomes a bit too boastful about being chosen to sing the Enchancian Anthem at the Harvest Festival. Luckily, Sofia gets a special visit from Princess Belle who offers her some advice.

One of the things I love about Sofia the First is the way it helps teach life lessons through Sofia’s own experiences. Just like Sofia, my boys often learn lessons about life through their interaction with others. Benjamin, as the youngest child, has a tendency to be a bit spoiled. So when his two-year-old cousin came to visit, it gave me a great opportunity to enforce the idea of sharing his toys. My poor four-year-old had a hard time at first, but soon learned that when he stopped worrying about who was touching his toys, he could have more fun playing with his cousin!

When your children tune in to watch Sofia’s learning experiences, make sure to take a few minutes to watch with them as well, because you can earn 25 bonus entries in the Disney Junior Princesses and Heroes contest by spotting the special Bonus Code during the premiere and entering it online!

Then, grab the family and tune in for the network premiere of Peter Pan on Saturday, November 23 at 6pm EST! I have a special fondness for Disney movies based on classic books and Peter Pan is no exception. My boys and I love to read together and in addition to new books, I often choose the same books my mother read to me as a child. Benjamin loves listening to Winnie the Pooh stories by A.A. Milne and Zackary adores the Chronicles of Narnia series by C.S. Lewis. And there’s nothing better than enjoying the magic of the stories even more by watching movies based on the classic tales! That’s why I’ll be grabbing a copy of the original novel by J.M. Barrie so that the boys and I can experience the book as well as the movie!

Make sure you schedule time this month to enjoy the great television shows and movies on Disney Junior, and maybe a little extra reading time as well! Whether your kids are learning lessons about life with Sofia the First or deciding to never grow up like Peter Pan, they’ll love all the fun on Disney Junior this month!
