The Healthy Shopper Spring 2014 Picks for Organic and Natural Products-Giveaway

I love buying organic and natural products whenever possible but they do tend to be more expensive than commercial brands. Most of the time I find that the extra expense is worth it for the superior taste and health benefits I receive, but that doesn’t mean I still wouldn’t love to save a little when I’m shopping for these great items! That’s why I love The Healthy Shopper, a coupon book created by health advocates Andrea Donsky and Randy Boyer that focuses specifically on natural and organic products.

This spring, the Healthy Shopper has some top product picks to help you make wiser decisions when shopping for healthy and organic food. I received an assortment of the Healthy Shopper Spring 2014 Top Picks to try out myself and I couldn’t wait to dig in.

Maison Orphee’s unrefined organic cooking oils were the first Healthy Shopper pick and I received sunflower oil, extra virgin olive oil and coconut oil to try. I am already a huge fan of all these oils for cooking and I was especially excited about the extra virgin olive oil. Olive oil is one of the most mislabelled products in the Canadian market and one of the only ways to be sure that you’re getting the real thing is to buy organic. The first time I tried organic extra virgin olive oil, I could taste the difference and I noticed it in this fabulous product from Maison Orphee as well. The Simply Natural barbeque sauces were the next Healthy Shopper pick and since the weather has finally warmed up, I was pretty excited about trying them on our burgers. I have a feeling the tangy flavour will be a family favourite on ribs this summer!

There are no nut allergies in our family and with two little boys that absolutely love peanut butter, the Earth Balance Nut Butters were a perfect fit for our family. I don’t eat very much peanut butter, but even I fell in love with the Earth Balance Creamy Peanut Butter with Coconut Oil! And I liked knowing that the boys were getting Omega-3 when they ate the Creamy or Crunchy Peanut Butter with Flax Oil too. As a huge cream cheese fan, I knew that I had to try the Olympic Dairy Cream Cheese and it was every bit as creamy and delicious as I had hoped. And my boys both loved the Olympic Dairy Vanilla Yogurt for an afternoon snack!
