If there’s one thing becoming a mother taught me, it’s that all purses are not created equal. I have a fairly extensive purse collection, but that’s because different occasions really do require different bags! And no matter what type of bag I need on any given day, I want it to be high quality, fashionable and original. So when MEIDUM gave me the chance to review its gorgeous leather LIZZY purse, I was pretty excited. This hobo bag looked like it would be perfect for a “day bag” when I had plans to be out of the house a fair bit and I was eager to put it to the test.

The purse arrived just before the boys and I left for North Dakota and I decided to bring it along to use during the day. One of the things I noticed first about this purse was its Cognac colour. I have to admit, the reddish-brown shade is not one that I would have chosen on my own when buying a purse, but the rich colour of leather was both beautiful and versatile when I saw it in person. It went well with almost all my outfits and is definitely one of those timeless colours that will look great for years to come.

The highlight of this bag for me was its different organizational options. In addition to a zipped outer pocket that I used to hold my keys, there are various separated areas in the large main compartment to help keep my gear organized. I tend to carry quite a bit in my purse, so having dividers in a bag is something that’s essential to me. One side of the bag features a zippered inner pocket that I used for change and my credit card. The other side contains one large and one small open pouch. The large pouch I used to keep my smartphone easily accessible. The small pouch was quite deep and made an ideal spot for my sunglasses.

The inner material of this bag has a soft, suede-like feel to it, which I appreciated since it meant delicate items like my sunglasses would be protected from scratches in the soft pockets. And while the bag doesn’t look especially large, the main pocket is actually incredibly roomy and easily accommodated my wallet, identification, makeup and other gear with room to spare. Since I acquired quite a few pamphlets along the way, I really appreciated having a bag that was light to carry, but still roomy enough to fit all the extra material I was gathering. In fact, on a few occasions I was even able to fit my DSLR camera into the hobo bag along with my other essentials!

To top off the bag’s functionality, the LIZZY comes with an optional crossbody strap that can be clipped on in place of the traditional short strap. This is one of the features that I absolutely adore in a bag so I was very excited to see that I had that option with this purse. The included crossbody strap is nice and thick with an adjustable length, which makes it very comfortable to wear. My only real minor annoyance with the bag was that I found the large main zipper to be a little stiff at times, likely because it was a solid metal zipper meant for heavy-duty use. I solved the problem by applying a bit of uncoloured candle wax to the zipper and now it glides beautifully.
