Try One of Three Unique Burger Recipes Inspired by Canadian Provinces

To me, summer means BBQ, and BBQ means burgers, so I spend a lot of the warmer days whipping up different burger creations.

I love varying the tasty toppings on my burgers, but one ingredient is always a must for me…Bick’s pickles! There are all kind of different ways of creating a burger success story when Bick’s is involved!

Bick’s is sharing some of its favourite unique burger recipes this year and I have to admit, they have my mouth watering! Created to celebrate the diversity of Canada, these provincially themed burgers offer something for everyone, with burgers inspired by Ontario, Quebec, Alberta and British Columbia! Personally, I can’t wait to try the Muskoka Breakfast Burger and the Grouse Mountain Power Burger!

Bick’s also sent me a fabulous Bick’s Burger Kit so that I could create my own burger recipe. Since my home province of Saskatchewan wasn’t one of those featured in Bick’s unique burger recipes, I decided to create a special Saskatchewan burger.

Fire and Ice Bison Bannock Burger

This province is one of extremes; our weather goes from the hottest of the hot to the coldest of the cold through the year. So I used a combination of hot and cool toppings along with two traditional Saskatchewan foods, bison and bannock, to create my burger!

Bannock, a food that is incredibly popular in Saskatchewan among all residents but especially the First Nations and Metis population, is essentially a simple biscuit dough that is then either fried, baked or cooked over a fire.

I used the frying method for the bannock I made for these burgers and the crunchy outside and soft, tender inside of the bannock suited the burger perfectly. In a pinch, regular buns would work just as well too, though!

I had a blast creating my own unique burger recipe, but the simple fact is that in this house, any burger is a success as long as Bick’s is involved! Whether I’m having family over to visit and my dad’s piling up a burger with hot banana peppers and relish or my boys are having a burger feast with three different kinds of dill pickles, Bick’s just makes a good burger!

  1. I would put tomatoe, baby spinach, bacon and blue cheese crumbles with a dab on horseradish on a toasted kaiser roll

  2. I like my burger with caramelized onions, cheese, mayo, slice of pineapple for some sweetness and lettuce

  3. Lettuce, tomato, green pepper, sauteed mushrooms, mozza cheese, pickles, bacon, ranch salad dressing.

  4. pickles onions & mustard….that egg recipe looks good…never tried a hamburger with an egg on it….I will though ;-)
