Fall for our family is a return to routine, from full school days to extra-curricular activities, but it is also a time to clean and organize my home for the coming months. There are a few different jobs I schedule for the fall and this year, preparing for cold weather will be even easier with a little help from ARM & HAMMER™ and OxiClean™. Here are four easy tips to help you get your home clean and ready for the new season!
Clean Up and Close Up
With summer winding down, get a head start on readying your patio or cottage for fall. Wipe down lawn furniture, the BBQ and summer toys before storing them for the year. ARM & HAMMER™ Baking Soda provides a safe and gentle alternative to chemical cleaning products to effectively combat summer dirt and grime, leaving everything clean for next summer.
Organize the Garage
Having emptied the garage of all the toys, bikes and lawn furniture over the warmer months, it’s the perfect time to organize in preparation for storage over the fall. Organize your loose tools, equipment and toys by creating a practical storage system. Use large transparent plastic bins with labels to make things easy to find. Install ceiling hooks to hang bikes and hang shelves along the wall for a convenient, space saving way to organize.
Freshen Up Your Home
After a few months of outdoor mess being tracked through your house by pets, your carpets could probably use some freshening up. Countless swims and runs through the mud will leave an unpleasant scent that’s hard to get rid of. Try, ARM & HAMMER™ Plus OxiClean™ Carpet & Room Odour Eliminator – Pet Fresh. This vacuum booster has the strength of baking soda to neutralize scent along with OxiClean™ Dirt Fighters to help lift away pet hair and up to 25% more dirt than vacuuming alone.
Transition Your Wardrobe
The change in season means a change in wardrobe too. Packing up all your summer clothes can be a daunting task, but ARM & HAMMER™ Plus OxiClean™ Crystal Burst™ Power Paks can help make things a little easier! These dissolving single dose Power Paks have the added stain-fighting power of OxiClean™, leaving your clothes fresh and stain free for next summer!
A little time spent organizing the home for the coming cold months can make a big difference when the snow starts to fall, and I love knowing that our summer gear is stored safely away, our warm-weather clothes are fresh for spring and our yard is organized so that we’re ready for outdoor winter activities and eventual summer fun once more. The hours of effort are well worth it when it means I can enter the fall season feeling like my house is ready for winter weather!
Thanks for some great tips and ideas for getting ready for winter.Storing things in clear containers is an awesome way to start for me.
I’m all about the spring cleaning, never though to get ready for winter! good tips, thanks.
I am so not ready for fall, I haven’t even found my fall boxes or any of my fall sweaters! nevermind the cleaning. LOL
I just did #4 on the list this weekend. Boxed up all my daughters spring & summer clothes and got out all the fall & winter. took a couple hours but happy to have that done!
We have to start all of this soon. I can’t believe it’s fall already!
It is time for me to organize and put away some summer clothes which I sad. I went away for July month (had a blast with the family) and we had a terrible August. I feel like I missed out on summer this year.
Thanks for the tips….I hate to see summer end, but alas, it does so every year.
I know I sound but right now I am in procrastination mode because I don’t want summer to be over!
Thank you for the ideas, they will come in handy.
I am reluctant to put away my patio furniture…. yet. I will, it’s just that I am really hoping for a few more nice evenings where I can sit outside and have a tea with my husband.
