My family loves turkey as a holiday main course, and it’s a long-standing tradition that I cook up a huge glazed turkey for any major celebration. But after years and years of holiday turkey meals, I have to admit that I was ready for a change. And Echelon Foods had the perfect solution for me…the Turducken!
Now I’d heard of the infamous chicken stuffed in a duck stuffed in a turkey before, and I’d always been intrigued by the concept. But the execution seemed too complex for me to actually consider making the dish for my family. Echelon Foods has made the meal a great choice for anyone, though, with its Original Turducken: a turkey filled with boneless duck, chicken breast and stuffing that comes ready to roast and serves about 15 people!
I was given the chance to cook up a Turducken for Thanksgiving and see for myself what it was like. The Echelon Foods Original Turducken is boneless except for the wings and drumsticks, and is stuffed with either chicken apple sausage stuffing or Italian sausage stuffing to make it a literal cook and serve meal. I chose the chicken apple variety for my Turducken and once it was in the oven roasting, the rich smell had my mouth watering.
The Echelon Foods Classic Turducken cooks low and slow, so while it’s one of the easiest holiday main courses imaginable, it does need to be started early just like a regular turkey. My boys couldn’t wait to give it a try and when the time finally came to slice into the meat, they weren’t disappointed.
The slices of turkey were moist and tender with a layer of dark duck meat and another of savoury chicken breast running through. The stuffing is layered into the middle of each slice adding extra flavour and texture to the meat. What I really loved about the Turducken is that the dark duck meat kept the white turkey and chicken meat nice and moist, while the chicken and apple stuffing enhanced the flavour of the meat. And there is a lot of meat on this bird! Just like with a traditional turkey, we had leftovers to enjoy for a good week afterwards!
For those with smaller appetites, Echelon Foods also offers a fully boneless Turducken Premium Roast that serves 8-10 adults. But no matter which Turducken you choose for your celebration, it’s sure to wow your guests. Best of all, it’s one of the easiest main courses you’ll ever make for a celebration dinner! Find the Echelon Foods Turducken at specialty butcher shops across North America; just visit the website to find a retailer near you. Trying a Turducken is a great way to add a little extra fun to your holiday dinner this year!

Not sure this would go well at my house, or Grandma’s lol. Looks interesting tho. Impressive that you can purchase it prepared too.
Thanks for sharing, I honestly have never heard of a Turducken before.
I thought of trying to do this myself, but buying seems like a much better idea.
