November is Financial Literacy Month and on November 4, 2014, Gail Vaz-Oxlade, a woman that has made it her mission to educate Canadians on Financial Literacy, hosted the first ever Use Your Common Cents Day. The event was designed to empower Canadians to use their common sense when it comes to everyday spending and save money as a result.
In the past, I had terrible financial skills and ended up in a lot of debt as a result. It took years of careful money management and credit rebuilding to recover from my initial foolishness, but as a result I am now very passionate about the importance of financial literacy. And I’m also living proof that anyone can bounce back from previous bad money choices and build a better future.

Shop sales and use coupons! Also stockpiling when items are at their lowest price really helps!
Sales go in cycles. Never buy something when it’s not on sale!
I use coupons and always watch for sales
I buy items I need when they are on sale and use coupons, too, when I can. I think the best tip I have for saving money at the grocery store, though, is to make a list and stick to it.
wait for the item to go on sale-use coupons on item and stock up with enough until next sale
I practice the three Rs Reduce – use less, Re-use – think outside the box an item can serve different purposes in its 2nd &/or 3rd life, then recycle – trade instead of buying.
Only buy what you really need. Just because it’s on sale, doesn’t mean you actually want it.

Use flyer apps, ALWAYS price match if possible, use coupons on sale items too!
