Getting Healthy and Fit in the New Year

Even though I’m at a fairly good weight for my size, I’ve known for some time that I really need to implement a proper fitness routine. In the past, when my weight started to creep up or I started to feel heavy and low on energy, I’ve invariably turned to diet changes to correct the problem. And while it does work well, I know that my body needs more. Now that I’m in my mid-thirties, building up my strength and endurance is just as important as eating well and I’ve decided 2015 is the year that I’ll be embracing good health and exercise.

Luckily for me, Almond Breeze stepped in to help get me started. The company sent me a fabulous fitness package so that I could get a jump on good health this year, complete with a fitness journal, a jump rope, a single-serve blender and coupons for delicious and nutritious Almond Breeze beverage.

I sat down with the fitness journal to start charting out my goals. And I realized almost immediately that Almond Breeze was the perfect solution to one of my biggest health challenges to date…eating breakfast. Unless I’m entertaining and making a huge brunch, I’m just not much of a breakfast fan. But I know that trying to power myself up for the day on nothing but coffee is not a wise decision.

Enter the new refrigerated Almond Breeze! I’ve discovered that by combining a half cup of yogurt, a half cup of frozen fruit, a half cup of Almond Breeze Unsweetened Vanilla and a few scoops of my favourite vanilla-flavoured protein supplement, I get a creamy and delicious smoothie that’s bursting with nutrition. It’s the perfect way to start the day! And since Almond Breeze beverage is a source of calcium, 98% fat free and a source of protein, it’s got extra nutritional benefits all on its own as well.

In addition to committing to breakfast, I’m going to be tackling a one-month beach body workout plan as well. I’ll be sharing my fitness results in about a month and I can’t wait to see the benefits of my new breakfast and workout routine. I’m sure the results are going to motivate me to continue to increase my health all year long. Wish me luck and make sure to follow the #CoolerWithAlmondBreeze hashtag for great tips and advice on how you can live your healthiest year yet with a little help from Almond Breeze!

  1. I’ve never tried almond milk, but I like that it is lactose-free. I use milk only for cereal on occasion because I’m a little lactose intolerant, so maybe I could use this more often!

  2. I’m not really a breakfast eater either, but I have gotten into the routine of eating a bowl of instant oatmeal with lots of blueberries. I like the smoothie you make. I hope to use that recipe myself in the near future. Thanks for sharing.
