When it comes to finding the best toys for my boys, I tend to favour those that encourage creativity.
That’s why building block sets have been a favourite with Zackary and Benjamin for years now; the building possibilities are only limited by the imagination of my children.
But recently I had the chance to review a toy that gave children a different way to create…Magformers! These clever geometric shapes contain magnets on each side so that they can snap together in all kinds of ways.
Recently I had the chance to review some of the newest Magformers sets and I knew my boys would be only too happy to help me out.
I received the Unique 44pc set and the WOW 27pc set to review. I loved the idea of a set that included wheels since my boys love any kind of vehicle. But they had just as much fun seeing how many shapes they could build with the Unique set!
In addition to being tons of fun during playtime, Magformers are a great choice for intellectual development. Their geometric design encourages mathematical development as children build cubes, pyramids and more.
And the process of building with Magformers also involves both the right and left sides of the brain to stimulate the mind and promote balanced growth.
From colour and shape recognition to complex problem solving skills, this is one toy that provides plenty of learning opportunities!
But like most kids, my boys are much more concerned with how entertaining a toy is than how much it can potentially teach them.
That’s why I’m so happy that they both find building with Magformers an absorbing and entertaining experience. And I have to admit, I quite like sitting down to build with the pieces as well!
From simple squares and spheres to complex structures, the sky is the limit when creating with Magformers. And best of all, the unique shape and size of the pieces makes them appropriate for children of just three years of age right up to school-aged kids.
A toy that both my boys can play with despite their almost four-year age difference is a definite winner in this house. Grab a set for your child online or at select retailers across North America and see how much fun learning can be!
