Take Advantage of February 29th for the First Time in Four Years!

If there’s a common theme for our modern lives, it’s being busy. Rushing to and from work, to different activities with kids and to various social commitments can leave so many of us feeling like we don’t have a spare minute in the day. But this year we’re all gaining the gift of not just a minute, but of a full 24 hours! That’s right; with the leap year here, it’s a great time to claim the extra day as your own and use it any way you want.

Looking for ideas on ways to spend February 29th? Why not try something you’ve never done before as a family and enjoy your time together by embracing the great Canadian winter! These three ideas are a great place to start:

Go Snowshoeing

Chances are, you’re not too far from a national park or scenic trail that is optimal for snowshoeing. Snowshoes have come a long way from the tennis racket-esque versions you’re probably expecting and are often available to rent from national parks or adventure stores. It’s a unique way to take in the fresh air and enjoy the beautiful scenery – not to mention it’s great exercise and your kids will love the novelty of floating on top of the snow!

Build a Snow Cave

It’s also likely that there are ample amounts of snow not too far away – or even in your own backyard. Building a snow cave is a simple cold-day activity. Make sure you have enough shovels for the whole family – it’s a team effort. Once the structure is complete, let it harden for a few hours and then create an entrance way and hollow it out. If it’s big enough, you can even carve out snow benches inside! Grab your snow pants and chill out – literally – with a cup of hot chocolate to add warmth.

Visit Somewhere New

Canada is chock-full of amazing winter destinations featuring everything from scenic ski resorts to lively festivals. Whether it’s teaching the kids to skate on Ottawa’s Rideau Canal or visiting the Northwest Territories to take in the northern lights, find something new to experience that your family will enjoy and remember for years to come.

All that outdoor activity may have you feeling a little tired and achy the next day, especially if you’re keeping up with active kids! So make sure to have plenty of RUB·A535™ Extra Strength Heating Cream in the house. It starts to work on contact and provides fast acting relief of muscle and joint pain. Then dive into the next month knowing that you made the most of every minute of your extra day. After all, it’s the last time you’ll be able to enjoy February 29 for four more years!

  1. Unfortunately, I live in a warm weather state and we don’t have snow. It would be so fun to build a snowman right now though.

  2. Winter is fun and a little magical too but the snow shoveling is tiresome and I do get achy.My husband and I have been using Rub A535 for many years now and we love it! It works great.

I’ll be kickin’ back on the couch watching winter out of my window. Reality? I have too much work to catch up on!

  4. I remember my brothers building snow forts (a long long time ago) and we had so much fun playing in them.
Aa for your suggestion to visit some place new, I did say to my brother that there is so much of this province I haven’t seen yet, places that could be discovered in a day trip. We’re definitely going to be doing that, but not on the 29th, (it’s a Monday and we’ll be stuck at work).

  5. I have never heard of this RUB·A535™ Extra Strength Heating Cream before reading this review. Will have to look for it at some of our local stores.
