It’s a Boy! We’re Welcoming a New Addition to Our Family

This is a sponsored post written by me on behalf of e.p.t.. All opinions are 100% mine.

When my youngest son was weaned and potty-trained, I fully thought that I was done having children. My two boys filled my days completely, and after six solid years of constantly either carrying a baby or breastfeeding, my body was ready for a break.

Of course, I also thought I was done with relationships, and then I met a man that was so perfect for me that he really did feel like a missing piece of myself I’d always been searching for. And when I married that man last October, I knew that all my old plans had changed more than I could have ever guessed they would.

My husband and I decided to start trying for a baby as soon as we returned from our honeymoon in Ireland. With my 36th birthday quickly approaching, I didn’t want to wait too long! We had family visiting in that first official month of “trying for a baby,” which meant that we weren’t…well…"trying" all that much! And I never had a moment of feeling like my body had changed in any way.

But just in case, I picked up an e.p.t. pregnancy test, available at Walmarts across the United States and select other retailers, a few days before my scheduled time of the month. I didn’t expect to see anything, so one can imagine my surprise when the test showed that unmistakable blue cross almost immediately!

Yes, that’s right! After swearing that I was done having children, my husband and I have a precious baby boy on the way. And even though we knew right away thanks to the early results of the e.p.t. pregnancy test, we kept the secret for quite awhile after getting the news! Since this baby will be the first grandchild for my husband’s parents, we wanted to make sure that we gave them the news in person. And on our recent trip to visit their winter home in Florida, we had the chance to do just that.

Of courses, I wanted to make the moment special as well, so I printed out a few photos of some of the boys’ special moments over the last year, like their first day of school and highlights from their summer sports seasons.

Then I slipped an ultrasound printout into the stack of photos and handed over the “pictures of the kids” when we arrived. Needless to say, they were both thrilled to learn that they’d be meeting their grandbaby at the end of July!

And now that our family has been told, I’m finally free to celebrate and spread the news far and wide! So far, the ultrasounds and checkups have indicated that we can expect to be welcoming a healthy, happy and incredibly active baby boy into our lives, which means that he’ll fit right in with his big brothers!

I can’t wait to see them embrace the role of surrogate caregivers for their new baby brother, and see my husband embrace everything that fatherhood truly means. I fully thought I was done having children. But I couldn’t be happier about having been wrong. I can’t wait to share every fun new adventure that awaits our growing family!
